  Our room was of a good standard and our lake view was just gorgeous! Make sure you get a lake view room otherwise it could just be a hotel room anywhere. Our bed was a huge super king size and was very comfortable. Breakfast in the hotel was really nice with a choice of continental or cooked at normal hotel prices. The hotel can be a bit of a maze to find your room but once you get the hang of it, it is no problem. We found it very reasonable for the room with a lake view at the time of year we went and were very happy to stay there.

  The fact that is only 3 stars is reflected in the room rate you can get here. Agreed, you need to ask for an upgrade to a lake view room or else you may end up in a fairly standard room looking into another block of the hotel. The room was basic but clean and passable. Breakfast was included in our rate and was good. All in all an ok stay, not flash but I don't expect it for the price I get the rooms at and I know the CDL hotels are always reasonably centrally located. Their Asian owners understand the concept of location, location when buying and running these hotels.

  One thing to note, CDL make their bread and butter by servicing asian bus tours so you may see a lot of asian tourists talking loudly and somewhat dominating the CDL hotels.

  After booking the executive suite, i thought i would be holidaying in luxury. Although the room wasn't terrible, it was extremely outdated and obviously hasn't been upgraded since the 80s. You could glimpse the lake if you were in the corner of the room. I asked to be moved to another room, which they said they would. I hear they have some cheap rooms here, so if that is what you are looking for, then this is the right place.

  This hotel had good sized rooms and bathrooms and I agree with the reviewer who said that it looks better than a three star hotel. Our room had a good view and some have even better ones. The bar (where you can also get meals) also has amazing views. It is a short walk into the town centre, but far enough away to be quiet.

  We had fantastic views from our room and the staff were efficient and friendly. It is well located and has underground car parking.

  Most of the rooms would have a view of the lake. Nice bar – cocktails 1700-1900 were 2 for 1. We had an executive suite, 2 rooms with spa bath. Internet available in room with your own laptop. Room was very clean, well decorated and fitted out with great views.

  Only used the restaurant for breakfast, lots of good restaurants in Queenstown. 19th restaurant on the harbour for good food at reasonable prices.

  The hotel is nothing special but at least it's clean and comfortable, but for the price (apr £65UK a night) that was more than reasonable. The concierge was very helpful: while I was checking in my girlfriend had arranged via him a jet boat trip on arrow river. It also has free parking which is a plus when you're driving the south island yourself.

  We stayed at the Copthorne at the end of June so, out of season, as the hotel was offering discounted rooms - approx £40 per night for a double room. We upgraded to a room with a view of the lake for approx £15 and it was worth it. The picture windows and views were spectacular (attached photo - a little dark as taken at sunset) and worth the upgrade to wake up to. The hotel itself is deceivingly large, the corridors of rooms go on and on forever and the room itself wasn't as grand as the room we'd stayed in previously at the Aspen but it was okay. The bathroom too was fine and certainly all very clean.

  Whilst this hotel is not on the lake front it is fairly close with nice views from the bar terrace. The room we had was comfortable with a small balcony, but no lake view.

  Usual room facilities, but internet access is very expensive.
