The hotel staff were excellent and arranged trips and taxis on request, albiet at slighty higher prices than you might otherwise have paid- we felt it was worth it to ensure that you got to and from the sites safely.
The hotel price can be restrictive to most, but staying a night or two can be a memorable experience at the Palace, and then maybe transfer to an Ipanema hotel for the remaining days.
I stayed there for the weekend and would have rated the hotel excellent were it not for the small room size and a grossly overpriced brunch on Sunday.
Compared to other upscale hotels that I looked at along Copacabana beach, I would have to say that it's the best hotel in the area, but less than we expected for the price.
The location is directly across from the CopaCabana beach.
Except for the location and dinner at LeCipriani, our 4 night stay was a big disapppointment.
On the positive side, the location is top notch and the staff outstanding.
There is a car service in the hotel which is handy for the airport run, it is slightly more expensive than getting a radio cab but less hassle.
The concierged offered us a free transfer to the airport as an apology.
We were initially shown a room with one bed (two twin beds that could be separated, but still quite close together) and a large shower, but I require a tub (bad back - need to soak) and we really wanted a bit more room (mother/daughter).
The bedroom was more of the same and had a ghastly TV set that rises from an even more ghastly giant cabinet that sits at the foot of the bed and takes up more room than an elephant.
They had hard wood floors, a foyer, living room, bedroom, a beautiful bathroom with marble, seperate shower and tub areas.
The rooms are second to none and the size of the suites for a city centre hotel was quite breathtaking - we had a bedroom, walk in wardrobe and huge sitting room.
Initially we were offered a rather small room with no bath, but my partner's objection led to us being given a suite with the most magnificent bathroom I have ever had access to.
We had daily breakfast (very nice with pool side seating) and one dinner in the fine dining restaurant.
The Cipriani Restaurant at the back of the pool area (and its accompanying piano bar) are both highly recommended.
Best of all are the hotel's two restaurants, one casual, the other serving Northern Italian cuisine that is as good as anything offered in Milano.
At night they have two restaurants that served excellent cuisine.
The Cipriani Restaurant was lovely and the main bar a gorgeous place for a pre dinner drink.
However, the front desk were efficient, most of the concierge staff were very helpful as were the waiters, pool staff and cleaners.
I know you would expect this from the concierge, but you could ask any member of staff for anything and it would never be to much or "not their job".
The services at the front desk and the poolside are top notch.
The service is fantastic, the concierge arranged for a very good walking tour of downtown and the rooms are both large and elegant.
The service is great, their fitness room is really nice and located at La Pergula restaurant close to the beautiful swimminig pool.
The fitness center was fantastic and beach was great.
I would definately recommend this hotel and its stunning position to anyone looking for a luxurious break in Rio-and you never know you may also be treated to a view of Matt Damon wandering through the hotel lobby!
The rooms are very simple and clean, the pool itself is utterly magnificent.
The staff are super polite, the lovely rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable.
