Coombe Abbey Hotel Coventry - 考文垂

The fella at the door said "It's ok lass, you are here now" and he was right on -- It is a location that is likely used for very special events in the area due to the beauty of the setting, so you may run into wedding parties or anniversaries etc.

I stayed at Coombe Abbey last weekend with my boyfriend and while it is in a pretty location and its a gorgeous building, it failed to impress.

15-20 mins away from the nearest village and taxis are quite expensive if your thinking of eating out.

We had a tremendously comfortable, four-poster bed in a feature room with an imposing feature bathroom, and had two huge windows overlooking a courtyard garden.

We had a four poster room, bed was really comfortable, bathroom spotless and towels big and fluffy - great!

Our room looked out on to the courtyard and moat - it had a sumptuous four poster bed and the bathroom was hidden - you had to 'walk through a bookcase' to get to it!

Our room was a feature room - we had a canopy over our bed, a corner bath and drapes around the bath/shower.

Check in was efficient and friendly and the room was lovely ooverlooking the moat with a great canopied bed , soft fluffy bathrobes in a great bathroom made it tempting to order room service and stay put.

There are lots of weddings at Coombe Abbey (two when we were there) and often the guests stay over, hence eating breakfast in the restaurant the next morning was a bit frantic and cramped.

The restaurant is expensive to eat in but the room & bar menus (although quite limited choice) are quite reasonable and the bar is lovely to sit in.

We love dining in the atmospheric Cloisters Restaurant, but as this had been hired out to one of the wedding parties, our dinner and breakfast were in the Conservatory.

The restaurant food was fairly expensive (£100 for a meal for two with wine) however it was lovely as it was a special occasion and the setting was great.

We ate in the Cloisters restaurant the food was delish, although one quibble.

The staff and service were spot on and I highly recommend that you visit this hotel even if you don't intend to stay there.

The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly.

The staff courteous and helpful receptionist.

Considering how much staff were fussing about the wedding we thought that our service may suffer but this was far from the case!

Theres no gym,leisure facilites so you need to make your own pleasures,but isn't that what you are there for?

3) Horrendous obtrusive piped music that made the communal areas similar to being stuck in a lift.

I loved the garden & woods setting and the exterior of the hotel.

The old medieval feel you will not get from other hotels and the rooms are spotlessly clean.

Bathroom spotless, private drink and dinner was very nice was mildly let down by the service.

The rooms are spotlessly clean and provide those little extras.

The room was very clean until you looked in places they don't expect you to look, but generally good.

However, we didn't complain because the feature room we were allocated was lovely; very spacious and spotlessly clean.
