With a better location than Hotel Ramada and more affordable than the (excellent) Hampton Inn, Hotel Continental is a solid choice.
Great location on Simon Bolivar Park and hotel Continental is a solid choice.
Also, in contrast with Hotel Ramada and Hampton, airport shuttles are generally not available with Continental, which leaves you bargaining directly with (hopefully legitimate) cab drivers at the airport.
But that’s not the same thing as calling a cab, and therefore no guarantee of getting a legitimate taxi.
Downsides - plumbing isn’t the best, as water usage in other rooms will leave you with sporadically scalding bath water.
The rooms where very good, as any hotel similar in USA.
Really good hotel and free room service coffee.
Quiet hotel room, delicious 24 hr Ecuadorean style restaurant on premises and service de chambre excellent.
They have always been accomodating to me in terms of giving me the room with a view.
The bar and restaurant are highly rated with excellent food and service.

Standard rooms are average-sized, comfortable and spotless.
The rooms are large, comfortable, very clean and some have a lovely view of the Parque de Iguana and the Cathedral (which is beautifully lighted at night.
