Commodore Hotel is very ugly and in poor condition outside, but the rooms are recently refurbed with excellent beds, showeroom, and room furnishings. Ten out of ten for service as well. And very good quality pub food. The only internal problem is age and size of lift (broke down when we were staying). If you do not mind external looks, but appreciate budget accommodation in a quiet area offering very comfortable rooms and "home" cooked food, then this is the one for you.

The food was good and value for money.

Address is in Bournemouth but this is by virtue of the postcode only. In actual fact it is 5/6 miles away at the far side of Boscombe and had I known this I would not have booked. However, our stay was a pleasant one.

We really enjoyed the area/location, peaceful and close enough to Bournemouth to explore the area. The bed was really great -no back aches.

The outside of the Hotel could do with a refurb - but otherwise all was really great.

3He hotel very shabby we would of avoided if we had not paid on line

The cliff-top sea views from the upper rooms were fantastic, with not a single streak on the expansive windows. The room was spotlessly clean and well presented. The cooked breakfast selection was excellent - I tried and was very impressed by the Scottish Salmon and scrambled eggs. My partner really enjoyed the traditional English cooked breakfast. The restaurant used for breakfast was open in inviting - quite a contrast to the bar area.

Given that first impressions count... The bar area used for reception check-in is decidedly 'tired'. Given that indoor smoking is now banned, maybe it's time to pain the ceiling anything else except for smoker's yellow? A barley white would probably do it, or with a hint of green... Stretching the budget further, the dark carpet could also be replaced.

Staff were attentive and quick. Great balance between chatting to customers but making sure no one was waiting. Excellent

The lift was on the small side. Parking not always possible.

The heating in the room could not be controlled and it was very uncomfortable at these high temperature in the room.

The room was slightly [just slightly] dusty - i should point out that i am am OCD person that sees even the slightest dust mote, that most people would not notice - but generally clean. My only complaint would be that the shower facility is rather small, with a fixed head that you cannot adjust as you would with a conventional shower. You have to open up the shower door, when leaving the shower with an almighty push too, also. An elderly person with little strength in their upper body and arms may perhaps struggle with this. However, the pluses are many..... the room [and bed] was very large for this price range. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm. The view that i had was truly *spectacular* - you can see right right the way down from Southbourne beach front onto Boscombe and beyond, and i think that most rooms in the hotel would a view of this quality. The breakfast [i had a three- egg omelette with mushrooms and brown toast] was delicious, cooked to my specifications, which i very much appreciated. The main waitress in the reception/breakfast area was down-to-earth, indeed earthy, and friendly. For service and general value-for-money, this hotel really cannot be beaten. Taking a range of factors into account, i would say that this is one of the very best hotels in Bournemouth.

        a small shower facility.

Friendly staff, good breakfasts, clifftop position giving unobstructed sea views.

I had expected, when I pulled the curtains, to see herds of wildebeeste sweeping majestically across the veldt, but it was just sea.

Excellent location right opposite the beach with sea views from room. Off street parking was fine as car park outside was full.

We were warmly greeted and all questions were answered politely and friendly. We didn't need to ask what time breakfast was we were informed.

The bringing of cooked breakfast was too fast, whilst we were still eating the first course. Over eagerness to please! Friday night there was a heated discussion by two people one of whom used appalling language and was speaking very loudly. I realise that this was not the hotel's fault
