I realise that country house hotels need to be given some lattitude and are not five star properties but the price charged is certainly a five star in the depths of Devon.

Fantastic location, the 3000 acres afforded magnificent country walks and nearby woods offer a number of enjoyable walks.

We have just had a one night stay at the hotel for my father's 90th birthday and everything was 100% perfect, the location, the food, the accommodation and above all else the service.

Wonderful old place; stunning location; delightful room.

Fantastic location, lovely place and highly recommended for an unusual stay within an ancient building.

Everything – the food, location, rooms, and especially the service – was perfect.

Our room willington was simply stunning with huge four poster bed, jacuzzi bath, comfy plush sofas,antique furnishings and the most breathtaking view.

Overall the room and bathroom were very clean and well appointed, although there was a large, dusty cobweb on the inside of one of the bedroom windows suggesting that the windows hadn't been cleaned for some time.

The bedroom was lovely, all the furnishings clean, light and airy and the bathroom with a six foot round bath.

Other than that it was very comfortable, great bed, lovely bathroom.

Staff could not be more helpful and friendly, the big suites are amazing - huge baths, fantastic service we retired to the lounge again for coffee.

The restaurant on the first night was delicious, as was the breakfast hamper the next morning (at our request, you can have breakfast in the main hotel).

The food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was excellent and a Devon cream tea by the roaring open fire can be highly recommended!

The food is out of this world - they've just been voted Restaurant of the Year and you can see why.

The barman was very accomodating providing us with light refreshments after being out for the day - no pressure to eat in the restaurant.

The food was also excellent, with delicious afternoon teas and a superb restaurant featuring a range of home grown vegetables.

Undoubtedly one of the best places I have ever stayed, the staff are so friendly and helpful, fantastic service we retired to the lounge again for coffee.

The staff/service are second to none and my every need was catered for with some thoughtful planning and attention to detail.

The staff was perceptive and efficient, and the food delicious.

The staff struck exactly the right balance between being professional and friendly, and everyone at the hotel was a pleasure to deal with.

Stained carpet, chipped paintwork, jacuzzi that didn't work.

Service was very good and bathroom were very clean.

    The views were fantastic and the whole house was decorated to a high standard. The staff were excellent, the shower room was luxurious and the restaurant on the first night was delicious. Dinner was good.

The bedrooms are luxurious, breakfast is good too - try the porridge.

    This must one of the most beautiful locations in the West Country and nearby woods offer a number of enjoyable walks. The hotel is approached by a long and the food is superb too - truely like staying in a stately home. Staff could not be more helpful and friendly, the big suites are amazing - huge baths, fantastic service we retired to the lounge again for coffee. The gardens are lovely.
