They found the Clarendon Hotel & Suites where they were given a very reasonable price and a tour of the hotel.
I would definitely recommend anyone who want to stay in a 5* hotel but pay budget price to reserve a room at the Clarendon.
The Clarendon is an ideal alternative to downtown downtown big chain hotel prices and deserves that you treat it fairly: If you pay below 160 bucks you should not expect the level of exclusiveness of the Ritz.
Price: For the attention you get and all the positives of the hotel, it's a good, affordable price.
There has also been some above average noise from A/C and a nearby generator on the street or something similar all night, but a) that's probably a temporary thing and b) we're in a downtown location where such things are to be expected.

Other comments: They have a chauffer service, but it doesn’t pick up from the airport so that taxi cost me $30 plus tip.
Always producing the unexpected (for instance, with the no liquids rule at airports, we found ourselves without sunscreen.
The bed was fabulous, the room size was very large, and yes the bathroom was small, but the bathtub and sink were clean, and it was supplied with nice fluffy towels.
The room included a huge California King sized bed, a 50 inch big screen HD television, along with a nice sized bathroom and Jacuzzi/bathtub.
My room was upgraded to a wonderful suite overlooking the pool with custom furniture, 2 TV's and the most comfortable bed outside of my own!
I stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms - and the same attention to detail I found during my first day was found - the bed was great - the bathroom newly renovated - flat screen tv and the senseo coffee maker all there.
This "suite" consisted of a basically unusuable living room (equipped with a 13" TV no less) an ordinary bedroom, except for the fact that the the bathroom sink was actually out in the bedroom.
It's a cute hotel overall with a pool, jacuzzi, restaurant and bar, but I wouldn't stay here again given that it's not near a strip of restaurants/bars/shops.
We ate in the hotel restaurant for breakfast.
They also told us about the new restaurant and bar opening on the premesis, which sounds amazing.
We loved the bar area, very trendy, and the Camus restaurant was excellent.
We had breakfast at their Camus restaurant which was quite tasty!
The staff is very friendly and courteous; the maid service was friendly and tried to stay out of your way while they were working in the hall with their service cart.
I stayed at the Clarendon in mid-april and I gotta say, hands down, they have hired THE friendliest, most attentive, most customer service oriented staff I have ever encountered.
I took full advantage of the pool & jacuzzi.
The courtyard had a jacuzzi and pool filled with beach balls.
The Clarendon features a unique, renovated appearance with a wonderful pool and spa area inside a courtyard surrounded by the walls of the hotel.
Free high speed wireless internet, free long distance and local calls, free parking (wish more hotels would do this).
Free wireless internet is a big plus for me, and they even have a PC in the lobby for guest use.
The unique style of design is fresh and new, staff are very freindly as well as accomodating to ones needs, the rooms are sparking clean.
The rooms were very large, clean, stylish and very comfortable.
The hot tub was wonderful - the pool was clean but it was a little too chilly to take a dip.
Superbly clean rooms and the desk lamp looks neat.
Professional staff greet you, the rooms are extremely comfortable and clean, the restaurant is wonderful -- a real gem.
