I think this is seriously one of the best uk Hotels I have stayed in . It has a great old world charm to it. Staff were extremely helpful , facilities were excellent. the food including a good breakfast and very good value afternoon tea were all top notch. The room was clean and spacious and the bathroom had a good size shower with powerful jet of water.Wireless internet was free to use and worked in the main lobby ,bar and dining areas of the Hotel. The Health club is compact but useful - the pool likewise- the outdoor pool is not currently in use - but when open should be an added bonus. For the rate I paid I'd say this Hotel is an absolute bargain and would definitely stay again.

I liked the proper bath in the bathroom. the bed was very comfortable and the staff were helpful with any questions.

It would have been handy to know that there is a dress code for the restaurant in the evening before arriving as I did not have appropriate clothing.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful and when we had a medical emergency they responded with calm efficiency. The dining room staff looked after us very well and the porters very helpful.

The breakfast could have been a little hotter.

The Spa and leisure facilities / location to the beach

Original standard room had a view over a garage / no bath - if this is what a standard room is it should have a more descriptive when booking.

The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, made a nice change! The room had great views across the sea. The Spa / Pool facilities were very much appreciated after having competed in the Bournemouth Triathlon.

The Car Park got very busy and it is just too small for some cars, meaning that somebody had to move there car out to allow me to move mine. Other than that, no other negative things to say about the Chine.

Hotel was a little way out of Bournemouth town centre therefore not so busy which we liked. It had a nice garden and outdoor pool.

The mattress was very uncomfortable - cheap and nasty. This was very disappointing as most other aspects of the room were good. For a hotel of this quality they should really be providing a much higher quality of mattress.

Good welcome, comfortable room and location suited us as meeting friends in the area. Dined at the hotel on Friday evening (dinner for 6) - satisfactory, enjoyable dinner. Breakfast - could be a choice of cereals and better range of fruit salads.

The views are amazing, the hotel really lovely, fantastic gardens and my room was excellent. Fantastic comfy bed and a lovely shower. When I consider the cost by comparison to some other cheaper hotels, this represents amazing value for money. A lovely breakfast too

      Can't really think of anything

The setting is lovely with large private gardens and views to the sea. Public rooms are especially nice. It has character. The The staff are young but helpful and smiling.

The Chine seems to have some old building problems. The rooms have been updated but some of the infrastructure struggles. For example, the old lift was charming but not so the non-functioning key card and longish return via the lift back to reception with luggage to get it changed and return. Anyone with mobility problems should make very clear on booking.

Very please with the quality of the room and the standard of the food was excellent. We made great use of both the indoor and outdoor heated pools and loved the tranquil gardens surrounding the hotel. Our son enjoyed the 'Funsters' holiday club and made full use of all the facilities.

Okay this isn't major but we were rather underwhelmed with the amount of information that was available to us regarding the schedule of daily events and the facilities available. For example we had to ask at reception as things occurred to us as there was nothing in writing in the room giving breakfast times, restaurant meal times or kids club timings. Also we were completely mystified by the 'meal plan' and if we were or weren't eligible for the children's afternoon tea in our booking rate. On the first 3 days it was part of the room rate but by day 4, Saturday 4th June 2011, we were informed we needed to pay as you go. £7 a pop - but still well worth it. Not sure what that was all about! Anyway as I said it was like pulling teeth to get any information on what was going on each day. By the way, this comment applies to the website and the hotel staff themselves regarding the kid's meals - our booking paperwork does not clarify.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The outdoor pool was brilliant, lovely & warm. We had no truoble getting sun loungers despite it being half term and the pool bar was really good. The stair down to the beach were like a little adventure and although a bit steep, my 2 1/2 year old & my mother in law were both able to manage them ok. And Boscombe beach was lovely & clean, very good lifegaurd presence. The bedrooms were very large, and room 106 made an excellent family room with bunk beds off the main suite so we could chat & watch tv once daugher was in bed without disturbing her. Kid's high tea was good re. Timing and laid back so you didn't need to worry about the little ones disturbing other diners. ALso the soft play room was great for filling the odd half hour allowing the adults to take turns getting ready without a toddler under your feet! Room & bathroom clean & tidy, nice shower (but no bath), hot water, good pressure & comp. Toiletries, tea, coffee, biscuits. Would certainly go back

I have to say, the beds were very uncomfortable and really could do with replacing. As the hotel is an old building there was no a/c in the rooms, but as the ceilings were very high it wasn't a problem on a warm June weekend, not sure about the height of summer though as the windows only opened a small amount too. The outside could do with a bit of work, but I suppose being that close to the sea, it may wear it down quite quick. I thought that although the high tea was very convenient, at £7.50 a head it was expensive and the choice was perhaps a bit limited. Also parking is at a premium and although we were lucky enough to get a space as soon as we arrived and didn't need to use it all weekend as all amenities were walking distance or reached by the road train, we did see other guests having to park on the road and try again later. Also, the parking spaces themselves were certainly tight and some a bit arkwardly positioned so maybe not the best if your car is your pride & joy. ANd I do think that possible the full rate is a little high for this hotel, but great if you can get a deal.

The room was huge and really comfortable. It also had a lovely view of the chine.

The parking spaces were extremely narrow and there weren't many of them!

We were made very welcome and apart from a much neededn 'out of hour' snack nothing was too much trouble. All staff were professional, friendly, patient and accomodating. We were allowed access to our room early.

We left home very early that day and arrived at the Chine hungry at about 10.00 for a wedding leaving the hotel at 11.30. We would have liked a snack but there was no food available until 12.noon. (We had no time to eat outside the hotel) We were dissapointed.
