nice setting, room was fairly big; good food and service at the restaurant
Receptionists did barely speak English; entrance road was full of potholes; building and area could be better maintained; we had booked a room with garden view, however, the balcony was not cleaned up; reason given why this was so was that it had rained the day before; we then had to ask for another room.

We stayed for two nights as a starting point in the lavender fields and villages of Provence. Close to the Aix-en-Provence TGV train station, which we needed as we travelled by train. A very cozy and romantic place, but far away from all the benefits of civilization, for a night and breakfast. There's a street pool. The room was large, spacious with a comfortable bed. For breakfast there was French cheese in all its diversity, fresh fruit. The staff was friendly and very hospitable.
Remoteness and if you want to have a snack for dinner or come with a child, you probably won't be able to do it. Michelin star restaurant and dishes are tiny, price is awfully high, children have nothing to eat at all! We were ready to spend the money for dinner, after the announcement of the menu, decided to refuse, so we just had tea for dinner and went to bed.

Our stay at Chateau de la Pioline was a truly extraordinary experience in authentic Provence accommodation. The medieval charm of the historic building, combined with modern comforts, made us feel like we had stepped into another world. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure our happiness. The beautiful grounds and cool pool provided a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Aix-en-Provence and the surrounding region offered plenty of attractions for both families and couples, making it a perfect destination for all.
For families, my children wished there were more activities specifically catered to them.

we were not happy - it is a genuine chateau that needs renovation and better service
for the price, they need better linens, cleaner grounds with actual flowers planted, friendlier and more helpful service

The booking process through Booked.net was inadequate for our circumstances. I was looking for accommodation for three people - for me and two daughters aged 10 and 11. When we arrived late at the hotel they were not prepared for us. That said, the staff did everything possible to rectify the situation and throughout our two night stay were impeccable in their service. The chateau has been sensitively restored and is a pleasure to stay in.
The fact that local planners have allowed a commercial cemtre to be built outside the entracnce to the hotel should not put visitors off. Once through the wrought Iron gates one is in an infinitely more elegant world.

I had the pleasure of staying at a charming property nestled in a peaceful, tree-filled oasis. The rooms were delightful, complete with a small balcony to enjoy the tranquility after a day of exploring. The highlight of my stay was dining outside in the beautiful gardens, a truly special experience. I must mention the excellent staff, especially Claire, who went above and beyond to provide helpful recommendations and even arranged gluten-free bread for my husband. I highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Beautiful historic grounds and building. The location, in the middle of retail park is strange yet added to our curiosity!
Dinner was expensive, not excellent but ok, breakfast was extremely poor. For 20 euro's extra pp we expect fresh fruits, fresh orange juice, home made or special jams, fresh local bakery croissants etcetera. None of it was there.

This charming hotel reveals a real hidden gem whatever your needs are, located close to a shopping district, within reach of the toll road, river and everything in Aix. The rooms are tastefully renovated and cozy, preserving the hotel's historic charm with modern amenities. The staff is friendly and extremely attentive to their guests- they even offer to help with your luggage. The breakfast is delightful with a varied continental spread. The manicured garden adds to the already splendid surroundings. the pool is well-located and enjoyable.
The hotel corridors may be in need of updates.
