Chateau De Marcay Chinon

Quiet location, good atmosphere and the staff were very friendly.

The hotel advised us to go directly to the hospital, and quickly arranged a taxi for us.

We had a one bedroom suite, the in-laws a double room.

The entry was into the bedroom, and the bedroom opened into the living room, which then opened into the bathroom.

I imagine the hotel made this arrangement since the bedroom had the most light – the living room possessed only a single deeply recessed window and was fairly dark.

The rooms (including the bathrooms) were huge.

The rooms are large and comfortable and the bathrooms could sleep 2 extra people!

Restaurant: five stars for cuisine, service, wine and cheese selections-- altogether superb!

We had eaten two nights before at Olivier Roellinger’s three star Michelin restaurant in Cancale, the Chateau’s meal – while not at the culinary heights of Messr.

We ate in the Chateau’s restaurant one night during our stay.

Roellinger – compared favorably with the overall meal experience at the three star restaurant.

The food was good but not as memorable as the other michelin starred restaurant in Chinon.

Service from the front desk and the breakfast staff was friendly.

Service was chaotic, noisy and there seemed to be a leadership power struggle between 2 members of staff which caused the others to become confused when given different orders from these 2 people.

Apart from the restaurant staff, service in the rest of the hotel was indifferent.

The service was very efficient and the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful.

The pool and other facilities appeared really nice, but we did not use them.

The pool has a great view over the countryside, the setting was superb.

There are only 3 umbrellas around the whole pool area.

Rooms are clean and chateau de Marcay is an excellent choice.
