However for a four star hotel it was overpriced musty and dusty.

It truely is a dissappointing not worth the money hotel I think that the hotel plays on the Chateaux part way too much and has maybe come to rely on it far too much and let it standardss slip.

Located some 3 or 4 kms outside of Aix, we expected a rural location.

After we returned from dinner in the town which is quite a driving experience due to the unusual location of the "chateau", we were watching television and found ants crawling on me.

When the room was serviced, the bedclothes were simply pulled up, but the bed was not re-made and the bedclothes smelled musty.

Room fittings were luxurious - bathrobes, two basins, large bath, flat-screen TV etc, and there was sense of being somewhere special.

The prestige room was not very well kept, the furniture was horrible, the bathroom was not very clean, the breakfast too expensive with poor choice and the service at dinner was so slow.

Our room - just the Standard - was lovely with plenty of toiletries in the (very clean) marble bathroom.

The only issue was the pretty cold temperature in the rooms during wintertime and a aircondition which is insufficient for the big room.

Secondly, although dinner in the award-winning restaurant was superb, the breakfast experience was frankly dreadful.

We had dinner in the restaurant which was truly one of the best meals we have ever had.

The breakfast is mediocre and the dining room is dirty and sorely in need of fresh paint.

We also enjoyed our breakfast the next morning on the patio by the pool.

I personally do not think 15-20 euros is too much for a fancy breakfast in an idyllic setting, but if you do, remember - you're on vacation!

We were greeted by their pleasant hotel staff and promptly checked in.

The service was excellent and the special duck dinner offered that evening was just outstanding!

The wine, the food & the service were all divine.

Stepping into the grand lobby one sees the gorgeous staircase and opened french doors leading out to a beautiful garden and very clean swimming pool.

The Chateau is charming, with a gorgeous pool and outside dining terrace.

We had fabulous French (of course) windows that opened over the pool and the decor was charming.

Having only a wireless modem, I asked to use the hotel's Internet facility.

5 kms of Aix en Provence and just at the gateway of the motorway; very chateau property, swimming pool and large, isolated life space areas!
