Its suburban location makes it ideal for visiting the charming city of Strasbourg and driving down the lovely Alsace wine route to the south.
I liked the location because it was away from the city and felt like a small estate.
Property - The location is on a few acres with a small river in the back of the property.
Our room had dirty carpet, dirty twin sized polyester comforter on a king sized bed, a mattress that was so old that we laughed that it was probably the only antique in the place.
We've always gone for the standard rooms which are adequate, quite nicely decorated and the bathroom has always been pretty nice.
We were looking forward to our usual 4-5 course menu, in one of the nice dining rooms, but on arrival to the restaurants area, we were lead to a room which we had not visited before.
There was a minibar and good sized marble bathroom with excellent water pressure in the shower.
We had 2 couples and both rooms were lovely, cheerful and pretty dormer rooms with windows that opened to the spring breeze (although AC was available).
There are two restaurants, a gastronomic one we didn't eat in due to our schedule but also a more casual winstrub where we enjoyed a nice but not outstanding Alsatian cuisine dinner on a rainy night.
The breakfast bar was a bit pricey and was essentially breads, etc.
Breakfast served in the winstub dining room and was almost overwhelming, every thing one can imagine and then more.
The formal restaurant and the "Winestub" are very good, featuring Alsacian food and wine.
Just stayed at the Chateau de L'lle and was totally impressed with the facility, staff, atmosphere, cuisine and amenities!
While it is in France and French speaking the entire staff is totally bilingual.
Surroundings were beautiful, the staff were very welcoming and attentive.
The coffee was superb, expresso or cappucino brewed to order in a silver service.
Their service, ambiance, and comfort are always excellent.
The service was above average (I think, Le Choiseul in Ambois has more personal service; you feel like you are 'living' in a chateau) The indoor swimming pool is a nice amenity.
Entering the hotel my heart sank to see the florescent lighting in the lobby, the overwhelming smell of chlorine from the indoor pool, which you couldn't get into because it would burn your skin and eyes.
After long flight from DC, drove 5 hrs straight to this hotel, it felt refreshing taking a swim (the pool is heated).
