Chalfonte Hotel Cape May - 开普梅

A beautiful location, the ocean breezes kept the room cool and the hotel was so charming.

I had visions of a nice, clean, little vacation cottage on the beach and instead got the perfect location for the next scary movie 4 setting.

So if you want soundproof rooms, air conditioning, stuffy Victorian furniture, no kids and total predictability, stay at the many bed and breakfasts.

Our room was very nice, we felt it was clean, the bed was comfortable, plus we had our own bath.

Therefore, not much air conditioning, no phone in the rooms, no television in the rooms, often no bathroom in the rooms.

The rooms were simple, but immaculate and the bed quite comfortable.

The beds are so poor and even the tiniest movement makes the old bed squeak loudly.

I agree the breakfast is an aquired taste, but I have stayed in hotels around the world and will rarely eat in the hotels as I wish to experience other restaurants, and cape may has some of the best!

After doing the restaurant thing when staying at other hotels without meal plans for a couple of summers, we discovered the peace and tranquility of eating at the Chalfante.

Breakfast was bountiful and varied with hot and cold food that was really quite good.

And what dinner and breakfast -- we never even think about lunch.

The Magnolia Room was great eating, breakfast and dinner.

The place was absolutely GORGEOUS and the service at the reception was mixed: Two ladies were very friendly.

Great place for families and the staff was most accommodating and helpful.

The Chalfonte offers visitors to Cape May a chance to experience historic charms, great services and quirks.

If this has not been the case with some persons who have written reviews, more than likely it was during a time when they had a loss of staff which happens at all resort B&Bs because the jobs at these establishments are for the most part seasonal.

There is also no business center, no free wifi, no indoor heated pool, no spa, no gym, no room service, no chilled champange waiting for you, no free mini shampoos and soaps, no flat screen TVs, no phones.

The parking is limited to street, but it's easy to find a spot.

It's a 100+ year old hotel, so there is no parking garage.

Since I didn't stay at the hotel, the staff was friendly and accomodating, our room was clean and filled.

Staff were very professional, the bathrooms were kept pretty clean and accommodating and the buffet breakfast was delicious.

The rooms were very clean and the complimentary breakfast was wonderful.

The food was superb, our room was clean and filled with antiques.

On the plus side, my room was neat and clean.
