If we went back to SF I would probably try to get another hotel in a different location, but for the three nights we were there and the price we ended up paying vs the other hotels we had a choice of, it was ok.
I think the hotel has accepted its status in life of being a reasonable alternative in price and location.
We love this hotel and consider it our home away from home (especially with gas prices going through the roof).
I did not stay in this hotel, but they did not refund the money payed for the rooms.
The location is centrally located so you can reach any destination easily.
Great location for exploring the city with the cable car close by, and close to one of the main gay areas which for us was an added bonus.
$65 a night, pretty much with a good location (center of san francisco) and ease to walk to BART, MUNI is all over, close to the 101N approach to the Golden Gate Bridge and just as close to 101S/280, it's a good overall location.
PLEASE take taxis or use public transportation.
The hotel parking in the underground garage I found.
The usual - TV, bathroom with tub, desk, large - VERY firm bed.
The rooms are perfectly clean, even if it needs renovation, but the bed was comfortable and clean, so was the bathroom.
The room was small and the hotel set us up with a one queen bed even though I had called ahead to ask for a room with double beds.
The room is quite OLD- think 60’s or 70’s miss matching bathroom tile, dark and dingy shower, radiator, carpet, bed, linens- out dated and gross.
I wish I had read the prior review first that said to change rooms because we must have gotten the low class room with stains on the carpet and the hardest bed in the universe.
We didn’t eat at the restaurant in the hotel, but walked across the street to Mel’s Diner for breakfast, and for dinner and drinks (when we didn’t feel like going to the clubs) walked across the street to Tommy’s Joint.
The Cathedral Hill has a good enough restaurant and a nice bar.
The restaurant on the other hand had a pretty good breakfast buffet daily for $12.
If you're looking for a nearby bar or club, the Element lounge (plays hip-hop and modern hits) is only down the street, just a few shops down on Geary.
Surprisingly the restaurant was excellent and we had two terrific meals there the food being up to a very high standard.
The service staff were very nice but unfortunately the reception staff were unfriendly and unhelpful.
The cleaning staff and front desk staff were professional and helpful.
Parking was easy, the elevators worked fine, the pool was clean and inviting, the shower/bathroom was clean, and the staff was very helpful.
The location is fabulous (walking distance to most of the city; bus stop right in front of the hotel) and the lobby/restaurant/gift shop/pool are lovely.
We did rent a car one day and there is an Enterprise location below the lobby in the parking garage.
Moreover, the wireless connection is not free and it's terrible.
Cathedral Hill has Wi-Fi only, at a cost of over $15 per day.
The beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean and smelled fresh.

In fact, on my floor security had to clear out two rooms due to a fight breaking out.
The room we had was lovelly and clean and spacious.
Nice, clean rooms, outdoor pool, good buffet breakfast.
