Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel

The location for this hotel is PERFECT, it's very close to the airport and just one or two turns onto the road that takes you to the Volcano National Park.

THe location, next to an extraordinary county park and gardens, is very pleasant.

The location of this hotel is good;close to the airport and you can occasionally hear a large jet fly over.

The only thing we would have liked would be if they offered an airport shuttle: the airport is scarcely two miles away, but it is a $12 taxi ride EACH WAY.

The hotel is a bit dated, but is close to the airport and the downtown, as well as 45 minutes from the volcano.

Rooms are very dated and beds, tv, bathroom are not up to today's standards.

We finally went to bed, and the beds weren't that comfortable.

We were in a very clean deluxe room on the top floor with two large beds, great bathroom, and a large balcony with an awesome view of Hilo Bay and towering Mauna Kea.

The room we had was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

The room was a mini-suite which was a standard room as a living room and half a room made up as a bedroom.

The lobby is also very inviting, as is breakfast in the comfortable restaurant (we can't vouch for other meals, which we ate out).

The food in the Queen's Court restaurant was good and fairly priced, but I do wish there were more alternatives to the buffet besides the somewhat forgettable menu in the bar.

We at at their restaurant for breakfast and the food was excellent and affordably priced for Hawaii.

3) The bar is a fun place to hang out but the restaurant seems to be a little overpriced.

The Queen's Court restaurant serves an excellent stir-fry from the dinner menu and great french toast from the breakfast menu.

The concierge were very friendly and the front desk staff were even willing to share some of their knowlege.

While we recieved tons of useful insider information from the front desk staff and terrific service at breakfast, sparkling service and bright smiles cannot overcome the hotels dusty carpets, dark rooms and downtrodden furniture.

The front desk staff was very pleasant when we checked in and when I phoned at 1 a.

There was convenient parking when we arrived; and, yes, we noticed the fish smell in the lobby and elevator.

Parking was close and secure, the laundry facilities were nice, and the pool was divine.

2) A minor annoyance is that you need to get a wristband from housekeeping before being able to use the pool.

I would describe it as an older style (late 1980s) quality inn standard, but surprisingly had high-speed internet access!

The room was clean and didn't smell or feel moldy like some others I have stayed in in the area.

The staff is very friendly and accomodaing and our room was clean.

The rooms are older, but nice enough, very clean.

I'm sure the room was clean, but because the hotel is dated.

The parking lot view rooms we had were a little worn but clean.
