Casa Palacio Casa De Carmona

We arrived at the hotel expecting it to be in a countryside location - but it is right in the middle of the town of Carmona, which was fine.

At check-in, the hotel offered us an upgrade to suite with a bedroom, a living room, a dining room, and a large bathroom - far more space that we could imagine.

Further, both rooms had bathrooms with big & luxurious bathtubs.

We found our room to be spacious and relaxing; we found the antique furnishings to be lovely -- fortunately, however, the bed was not antique and was extremely comfortable!

Rooms were probably once fabulous, but ours had wallpaper stuck together with selotape and a bathroom with mould round the bath.

Its bathroom and toilet was only separated with a glass wall and a curtain from the bedroom.

The food in the restaurant is excellent, the breakfasts were very nice and were served in the conservatory.

We ordered a nice meal from the restaurant at 5:30pm and were told it would arrive in an hour.

The menu on the outside of the restaurant was not available – instead we were given a scruffy photocopied sheet with a very limited choice of dishes, and had to guess the prices of them.

For two consecutive nights we could not be served a meal in the "highly renowned restaurant" as the chef had not turned up for work.

However the building itself is lovely and worth a visit just to look ta it- it has a nice library downstairs and resturant - the food is excellent for breakfast and dinner.

The staff were very friendly to us, and their service was impeccable; they didn't speak Englsih fluently, but well enough to communicate at the level needed.

The service there had been impeccable, the building stunning, food simply outstanding and the staff were so accommodating.

The service was patchy and often there was a feeling of being a hotel without staff (or soulless as my travelling companion described it.

On arrival at the hotel, the receptionist told us that we had no reservation, although I had a printed booking confirmation in my hand.

Car parking is opposite the hotel (if you're lucky) in a small dirt covered area.

The patio inside the hotel is just stunning and adjacent to it is a beautiful pool area.

It was 36 degrees on 2nd June 2004 but the swimming pool was closed as it was off season.
