I have been travelling to Holland for 20yrs twice a month and there are much better hotels for a which offer better rooms and value for money.
It offers terrible value for money and it felt like the hotel was geared up to squeeze as much money from the guests as possible.
The view from our ocean side room was nice the balcony was covered and the hotel was not bad – just overpriced.
Overall it was ok providing someone else is picking up the bill, i certainly wouldn't book this hotel if i was paying.
The location was right on the beach (and tram line into the centre of the Hague) as well as being close to all the beach bars and restaurants so it's well located.
The Carlton Beach Scheveningen isn't a bad property, most rooms have a majestic view of the North Sea or the dunes and location: The best feature of the hotel is its location.

The ding-ding of approaching trams was charming on the first two-dozen ocassions but started to wear after a while so be sure to get something 5 or more floors up and preferably facing away from the trams!
The hotel is adjacent to a tram turning circle, making a trip in to Central a snap.
The staff was friendly and courteous, the bed was excellent.
The beds were comfortable enough, the toilet was clean and as my food was ordered medium well.
Additionally the staff were nice, our room was not quite ready so we were given a free coffee and the toilet was clean.
1980-ish but I generally liked mine and the bed was excellent.
The mattress was very hard and the "king size" bed is two singles pushed together.
In the bar / restaurnt - exceptional and huge extensive breakfast.
The breakfast each morning was poor, little variety but it did have an omelette bar and the service was average.
The restaurant food was well below average for a hotel of this rating and the prices on the wine list outragous.
The staff lied regarding parking spaces, they only have 2 child-seats in the hotel which leaves some angry parents at a breakfast table, the food is horrible and last but not least the hotel violates privacy rules.
The complementary soft drinks mini bar was a nice touch too, breakfast was lovely and ample, the waiter was very helpful.
Good housekeeping service, big rooms and the staff was extremely helpful -- from front desk to bar to maintenance.
Maid service every morning was fine and the beds were comfortable enough.
The view from our ocean side room was nice the balcony was covered, the hotel was not bad – just overpriced and maid service every morning was fine.
At the reception we were informed that they got instructions from manager Herman Kemp to pack our luggage and remove our luggage from our room.
Finally, I chose this hotel as it had a gym and a swimming pool.
Meals at least satisfactory, the swimming pool a bit small.
I've not tried the pool or sports facilities.
Hotel was very comfortable, the staff were friendly and rooms were clean.
The cleaning lady told us that she got the instruction to clean our room and that she did not know what happened to our unpacked luggage.
While the breeze coming in from the North Sea is fresh, rooms facing the south enjoy none of it.
