We got great value for our money at Cardynham House. The room was excellent, with a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, and the four poster bed was incredibly cozy. The location in the center of the village was ideal, allowing us to explore and enjoy the lovely surroundings. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, making us feel really taken care of.

The morning meal could have been improved with a bit more variety in the breakfast options.

Friendly staff; unusual layout of hotel; quirky room - 4 poster bed, extra couch/ single bed; bags of space. Nice big sitting room for guests downstairs. Old beams in room. Great breakfast - piping hot.Generally different from standard guest house/ hotel.

Slightly strange that chef had gone on holiday for two weeks in July - high season for guests. Restaurant was closed, with presumably loss of revenue. Royal Oak next door did very nice meals, but we had lovely meal in Cardynham last time we were in Painswick and were looking forward to repeating experience. Feel that they lost out on business from guests - recognised a few faces at breakfast from the Royal Oak the night before!

Lovely location. Querky, interesting building/facilities. Excellent breakfast. Would definately stay again.

I feel the bedroom and bathroom (Medieval Garden) was rather "tired" regarding its decoration/furniture/soft fittings. The window frames are in need of a good lick of paint! If refreshed, the bedroom would have been just lovely. Unfortunately, the older waitress who served breakfast was surly to the point of being rude. The breakfast itself was excellent, but marred by the atmosphere created by the waitress. However, the owner and rest of the staff were very friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel in the Cotswolds. The location was perfect for us as we wanted to explore the surrounding areas by car, and it was really convenient to access other places from here. The view from our room was amazing, overlooking a beautiful valley. The room itself was lovely, with all the amenities we needed including ironing facilities and air conditioning. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, especially as we were traveling with a young baby. They went out of their way to provide us with a cot when we realized we had forgotten ours. The service was great, and we enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast in the dining restaurant. a wonderful experience.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends. It's a great little place in a picturesque village, with no problems parking.

Our room was unusual but very comfortable and it was a bonus that we had a view of the countryside over the roof tops. The staff, 2 ladies, who looked after us in the morning were excellent: very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was superb

The gentleman who met us on arrival, the owner?, Was quite rude and off hand. He was dressed in a t-shirt and long "swimming" shorts: not what we would expect from a place like this! Because of him and his lack of welcome we shall probably not return nor would we recommend the hotel to anyone else. This is a great shame because other aspects of the place are very good but first impressions are so important!

Very friendly reception, made to feel at ease. Room very nice, lovely view of church. Breakfast was unbelievably generous and wholesome

It is a shame that they could not serve evening meals as the food was so good.

Charming location, beautiful house, personalised breakfast, spotless room, comfortable bed.

    Nothing that I didn't like.

The room was spacious and designed in a very imaginative way. The four poster bed was picuresque and also very comfortable. The shower gave a good strong flow of water although this was affected when a lot of water was being drawn elsewhere. The building had real charm being over 500 years old. The restaurant was not overpriced and the food first class. There was a big choice of breakfast. The staff were helpful and attentive. This is not a chain hotel and the manager clearly took an interest in the guests.

If you stay in an ancient building you have to be careful of low doorways, but this was the only thing that presented any problem. We expected this however and it would spoil the building to alter it.

Nestled in a charming village, this hotel offers a delightful stay. Take a walk to the nearby Painswick Rococco garden or browse the little shop just steps away. The rooms are beautifully decorated, some with stunning views and warm fireplaces. You can also enjoy a scrumptious breakfast and excellent dinner in the cosy bistro. The friendly staff are always ready to help and the modern bathrooms are a plus.

Not all rooms offer the same level of soundproofing, so noise from neighbouring rooms may be audible.

Location was superb - right in the middle of town and views to valley, just beautiful. All staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful. Easy access to shops, pubs and restaurant if you did not want to eat in. Breakfast was fab!

I had a wonderful stay at this charming hotel. The location was absolutely beautiful, situated in the heart of a picturesque village. The room I stayed in was spotless and cosy, providing a comfortable night's sleep. The breakfast offered a personalized experience, allowing me to order the night before and enjoy a variety of delicious options, including vegetarian choices. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that my stay was both comfortable and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.

Parking may be a slight inconvenience as there is no on-site parking available. However, the staff made every effort to assist me and I managed to find suitable off-road parking nearby.

We loved the room - old hotel with lots of charm, but modern facilities. Also centrally located in twon, but yet close to walking trails in the countryside. The breakfast was one of the best anywhere!

Parking was a little tough - narrow streets, but that is pretty typical of the small towns in this area.

This hotel in the Cotswolds was full of character, with each room having its own unique theme. The staff were incredibly friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The location in the heart of a quaint village made exploring the local history very convenient. We especially enjoyed the comfortable four-poster bed and charming decor in our room.

That the mattress in our room was in need of an upgrade. While the room's overall charm made up for it, the sagging bed did make it difficult to get a good night's sleep.

Staying in such a historic building, adapted to modern standards without spoiling the ambience

Would have been cosier had the open fire been lit in the lounge area
