This no-nonsense hotel is in a nice part of England, approximately 100 miles west of London, and has a plethora of activities for guests, such as a great 7,000-square foot spa, a great kids' club, and a full-time nursery for parents who need a little break. The staff is helpful and the food at the glass-enclosed restaurant is delectable. Rooms are located in converted barns and farmhouses, some of which date back to the 13th century, or in larger cottages.

            The meal in the conservatory dining area was superb and the staff attentive and courteous, the quality of the food in the restaurants was good as was the service. The family room was great and breakfast was excellent. Our dinner that evening was very disappointing, receptionist on arrival was very friendly and polite.

            Surroundings are lovely and one of the best things about the hotel is the spa. Staff are all really friendly and beauty treatments excellent , outdoor hot tub next to a log fire. Food is very good indeed.

            The common areas are delightful and the spa is very good, overall this hotel is well run and welcoming. Staff are helpful and professional, food is excellent, rooms are luxurious, the children's high tea in the gumstool inn is great and caters for babies. Calcot manor is an excellent choice for a weekend break.

            The one area that we felt could have been improved slightly was the creche, the whole atmosphere was very welcoming and pleasant, the room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom huge. The children's food was excellent and did not just consist of pizza and chips, spa was great.

            The spa relaxation area was lovely to read in, overall we the hotel was excellent and the main bedroom was large and had a separate bedroom for our daughter just off. The meal in the conservatory restaurant was very nice, the gym was very good.
