Bougainvillea Beach Resort Christ Church

One advantage to the Bougainvillea is its location - if you're looking to explore the island, it is relatively centrally located between the East and West coasts, so we were able to get around pretty well.

However, the location of the hotel is close to everything.

It was a great location as the reosrt is close to St Lawrence gap and some lovely restaurants.

Hotel is a 20mins (BD$40) taxi fare from airport - check with driver beforehand the fare, and whether he is quoting you in US or BD$!

Because we booked the honeymoon package, the hotel provided us with a taxi driver to pick us up at the airport, but if you do not pre-arrange your transportation, don't worry - there are plenty of taxi drivers there.

We had the two bedroom deluxe beach view with 4 large balconies, a pull out couch in the living room, 3 toilets/2 shower/2 bath one of which was jacuzzi tub in one of the bedrooms which was perfect for the kids bathtime!

Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite that had two double beds, a kitchen, living area with a double sofa bed, and a large balcony, A/C, and safe.

Our bedroom had 2 double beds and we had originally wanted a king for us and we were going to have our children sleep on the hide- a- bed.

The rooms are really nice we had a 1 bed deluxe apt the only thing i found the beds uncomfortable and woke up at night with a backache.

We were there July 2-9 in a luxury suite that had a bedroom, bathroom, small kitchen and a living room/dining room.

We ate several meals at the resort at the Water’s Edge restaurant and they were good but pale in comparison to the restaurants in the Gap.

There is a restaurant on the beach which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner - breakfast isn't great, so we just bought food and dined on our balconey - perfect!

Rooms were terrific, beach fantastic, pool nice, Water's Edge Restaurant great, Lantern's Inn Breakfast so-so, but lunch and dinner very good.

Lawrence Gap is not far from the hotel and there are some very good restaurants there: we ate at Picses, Restaurant at Southsea and Josefs.

Food at the Boug is variable - the everyday restaurant, lanterns, is very average and i wouldn't recommend the breakfast once you can get hold of your own food.

We found the cleaning staff efficient and catered to our wishes, grounds keepers, concierge, front desk staff, water sports staff were always friendly and courteous and willing to help you out.

A couple of such staff exist at the front desk with such an attitude I experienced it once during the sheet debacle but the same members were simply rude and disinterested day in day out to guests at reception.

This icluded the luggage handlers, front desk crew, security staff, housekeeping, watersports, waiters, bartenders, everyone!

The giant chess set + separate deep adult pool were good too although if I’m being really critical a Jacuzzi somewhere would make a good addition (and what happened to the freebie cosmetics?

But there was no need for concern--we arrived to a lovely, open-air lobby overlooking the lushly landscaped pool area.

We had easy access from the pool or near the parking lot, and at night, we could hear the crashing of the surf beyond the balcony doors.

The only negative comment about the hotel is the pricing for the wireless internet access is misleading.

Our room was fantastic, kept clean and tidy, and our room included a plunge pool on the balcony which was perfect for early morning dips with the little one, and late night chill out moments with a bottle of your favourite tonic!

The room was clean and tidy, although a lick of paint was probably overdue.
