Blue Bridge Hotel

The hotel itself was in a good location quite close to the city centre and about 20mins to the train station.

The Hotel is in a prime location being only a five minute walk into the City.

All in all we would probably stay here again as the location is very good but could probably get a better standard of accomodation for the price if we looked around.

The location was ideal for a long 3 day break , we could leave the car and walk everywhere and we thought it would be a pleasant change from the major brand hotels.

We stayed here for the weekend and found the hotel to be in a very good location right near the city centre and quiet on the night times.

Rooms are big (bathrooms had a bath as well as a shower), clean and the breakfast is fantastic.

The hotel is not 5 five star but what do you want for 60 pounds a night for a double room for bed and breakfast in the middle of a major tourist area.

The room was only just big enough for a double bed and a dressing table but nothing else.

The room was dirty the carpets needed cleaning, the bed linen was tatty, only like a sort of cover thing on the bed that had seen better days, was all ripped and torn inside.

On the website , the photos of the superior suites looked very nice and according to what they say , the rooms were decorated to a very high standard.

There was a pleasnt dining room for breakfast and dinner and a cozy basement bar.

Breakfast was copious and well cooked, but the layer of cigarette ash in a cearel bowl on the breakfast bar left a bit to be desired.

It was then we saw the sign saying the bar and restaurant were closed for referbishment!

This was mainly due to the quaint bar and excellent restaurant services, and not the rooms which were just OK but nothing to complain about on those two occasions.

The reception, bar and restaurant look like they have recently been refurbished so are clean and tidy but the room we had (room 10) was tatty and VERY small.

We were a little bit worried about staying at the Bluebridge as we had read some of these reviews before we came to stay and was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the customer service and the friendly staff.

We took our bags round to reception where we were met with a very grumpy looking receptionist.

We could of course ahve requested clean towels at reception.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

It is located just on the outside of York Wall, with parking!

Ideally situated only minutes from the town centre with on site parking for a few cars.

There is a strange collection of stairways, passages and corridors but no lift.

The bathroom was large and although in need of a makeover was clean and adequate for our requirements.

The Hotel and our room was very clean and comfortable.

Rooms were clean and comfortable but the provision of accessories such as mugs for coffee, shampoo and soap, was hit and miss.

What onearth was this hotel doing using a customer's facecloth to clean the toilet - and then leaving it on the towelrail?

What they could have done however was clean the room.
