My friends and I spent HOURS searching for a decent hotel to stay at in SOBE, and decided on the Betsy Ross because the price was decent and reviews weren't bad.
Ok, this place is NOT the ideal hotel for everything but the price is perfect and location is right.
For the price, this is a good hotel in South Beach.
The hotel is very charming, price is great and the interior lobby of the Ross is updated.
The location is perfect - towards the quieter end of Ocean Drive, in fact the hotel is very well located and the newly renovated lobby area is beautiful.
The location was ideal (right across the beach) and close to all shops & most night life.
First the good points - the staff were friendly, the location is excellent (right across from the beach and close to South Beach activities), and the lobby is nice.
The taxi fare from MIA to south beach was a flat fee of $32 + tip.
You can walk to almost everything and taxi's are always available when you don't feel like walking.
Unfortunately, she did not give me the room we had reserved (2 double beds with poolside view) and instead gave me a room with one bed and a sofa and a view of a wall.
I had 2 double beds with a desk and a separate living room with a convertible couch and mini refrigerator, a clean, modern bathroom, and very efficient air conditioning with 2 ceiling fans.
The hotel room was nice: very clean; very comfortable bed with down comforter; the alarm clock can play your ipod!
We had booked a 1bedroom junior suite and despite the fairly noisy aircondition unit, we were very pleased with the condition, the size and the cleanliness of the room.
The clerk told me he didn't know why the previous clerk told me that they would move me because he had no larger bed room to move me to.
The location was excellent, the bar and lobby was very impressive, and the food at the restaurant down stairs was very good.
Bar is good w/ good drinks, the onsite BLT Restaurant is excellent.
We were blocks from my fav bar, Clevelander and some awesome restaurants.
Lobby: Lobby was extremely beautifully decorated with great bar and a very good restaurant menu.
The breakfast was a nice touch from the days you don't want to pay$40 for brunch at an Ocean Drive restaurant.
The reception staff could barely speak to us when checking in (and it wasn't that busy) - every response was a murmer and were more concerned to make sure they got payment than anything else.
Very reasonable price, the lobby is cool the breakfast is to die for the staff is friendly and competent, service is uniformly attentive.

The Betsy Ross is a pretty hotel with a cool lobby, pool and bar.
On the plus side- the lobby is beautiful and room was clean with a fresh coat of paint and new carpet and location can't be beat- on Ocean Drive but quiet.
The actual rooms were average and a standard ambiance (but they were comfortable & CLEAN).
The rooms weren't fantastic but they were clean and cool.
A good stay, great service and the rooms were very clean.
