I would certainly stay here again, as the value for money is exceptional in a city that can become quite expensive for hotels.
I loved where this hotel was located it was a little off the beaten path but the hotel"s staff and rooms where right on the money.
The hotel has lots of character, free internet use, free wine and cheese, a charming lobby, an pleasantly adequate breakfast that came with our price, exceptionally comfortable beds, free coffee.
Being Halloween and all but it was worth the money paid on the hotel.
The location was excellent and the hotel was well situated for the shopping.
Good restaurant on site, 2 blocks from Union Square and the Hotel was located in a great location.
The location was good, its proximity to Union Square made an excellent base of operations and so value for money was great.
If you are walking to the Muni Metro/Bart station, I'd walk down to Union Square and forget walking down Jones.
Two females together, we did not feel especially unsafe since there is a lot of foot traffic on Geary, along with the ever-present panhandlers.

We had a "family suite" that consisited of a room with a King bed, tv,dresser and a seperate room with 2 twins, tv, dresser.
The feather bed was very comfortable, the room was well-furnished, the bathroom was spotless and our towels and soaps were replaced (not sure why the other reviewer had a problem).
This breakfast is put on by the hotel, NOT the restaurant, which is open only for dinner and is a great place for inventive vegetarian (vegan, in fact) cuisine.
The restaurant inside the hotel, although vegetarian, is very good and the breakfast is good too, although on the last day we didn't eat there and ended up finding an even better place!
I didn't have time to try their vegetarian restaurant, but the food I saw from the bar looked very exciting and original (and I'm not a vegetarian).
Good restaurant on site, fantastic decor and european-style continental breakfast.
Breakfast was included in our package and was served in the Millennium Restaurant on the first floor of the hotel.
Front desk staff also acts as perfect understudy for otherwise absent full-time concierge, plus they're funny, smart, helpful.
The location was great, however, the service was terrible-- especially the very unfriendly front desk staff that works during key business hours.
Playful lobby music had me bobble-headed and wiggly while awaiting the elevator, complimentary shot of tequilla upon check-in (come-on guys - buy some Patron) actually launched my vacation.
THe lift/elevator is REALLY slow, and we could hear the people in the corridors from the room.
Location is very convenient, union Square & Lefty O'Douls just a short walk away and crackers in the lobby - great to start you off before the big night.
The free high-speed wireless was wonderful.
I always resent having to pay $10 a day or so for wireless access at pricier hotels.
Fresh apples at the front desk very modern and welcoming=-clean bathrooms matter a great deal to me.
Room was clean and tidy with individual decor.
Great service, clean rooms and all of the good Thai restaurants are one block away.
Front desk QUITE helpful and rooms are clean and updated.
My room was clean with quirky quotes painted on the walls and a mirror that said "The Star of this Room" with a very cool surfboard w/the map of California attached to the door.
