Firstly, I realize that you get what you pay for, so those negative reviews of $70 non season hotels really do not hold any value to me.
They help us out to get room and pay lowest price in june for this kinda hotel.
The location is great - close enough to the main drag in Daytona, without having to be in the middle of all the crowds/noise.
Overall, we LOVED the place and will most likely use this location for future vacations.
Our room was clean, the kids' activities coordinator was wonderful (Kate) and the location was nice, right across the street from a grocery store and a great little BBQ place (Luke's).
Great location - steps away from the fun beach, then jump in the large pool, very well heated (mmmm!
We were quoted a rate of $99 for a mini-suite with 2 queen beds, a sleeper sofa, a kitchenette/breakfast nook, and bathroom.
The room had two queen beds, a small fridge, and a microwave.
The place looked like it had just been built and the hotel room and bathroom were cleaner than mine at home (and I am a clean freak!
Also, the room was very quiet and the beds were comfortable.
$117/night for an oceanfront room) Rooms were spacious, but I definitely recommend a kitchenette room.
The landscaping was beautiful, the Tiki Bar was awesome, and you MUST at least visit the restaurant on-site so you can walk over the bridge to see the indoor fish pond stocked with beautiful oriental fish.
Only things I would add: free complimentary breakfast (breakfast was available in the restaurant, but I think it was $8) and a better TV (they need to upgrade them, the picture was blurry).
We were disappointed that the restaurant was closed for several weeks while we were there, being with a small child and all, but they gave a free continental breakfast as apology.
The food in the hotel's restaurant was very good too.
The food in the on-site restaurant, Trader's, was absolutely delicious.
The staff was so friendly and the evening cocktail reception was a nice addition.
The staff from the front desk, housekeeping, resturant were excellant.
Manager's reception which is basically open bar for an hour in the evening.
The warm cookies served at the front desk each morning was one of the kids favourites.
The pool area is one of the best I have ever seen.
Grounds were large and well kept and there was an abundance of sun loungers around the pool and on the terrace overlooking the beach.
The pool was clean and the grounds were clean.
The rooms were very clean and the mattresses were comfy.
From the comfortable, clean rooms to the serene outdoor surroundings, it was "just what the Doctor" ordered.
I loved the room, it was clean, neat, well kept, had a refrigerator and stove, the hotel offers a goody bag when you check in, free happy hour and free cookies in the mornings.
Bathrooms were spotless and the view was spectacular!

The Aku Tiki was newly renovated with fantastic rooms. Bathrooms were spotless and the view was spectacular! The pool was clean, the staff was nice, and our stay was awesome.

We arrived to find they had remodeled all the rooms and they were very nice, however, there had just been a flood. To the credit of the restaurant employees and the restaurant manager they do everything possible to try to control the situation and make the people having dinner have a great dining experience.
