We didn't have any major problems at the hotel and would go back and recommend for a quality stay at a low price.
Overall, I rate this hotel a great value for your money but if you have teen-aged kids looking for adventure, this is not the place.
To sum up the beachs and see were breathtaking, the pools were fantastically clean and the whole hotel was so brill for the money you pay.
The price for this hotel is way over the value you get.
The location was close to shopping and the nightclubs (65 cents for a bus ride).
Lastly, the Tucancun is in the best location next to two shopping malls.
The Tucancun is in such a great location, right on the beautiful sandy beach and close to the malls (which are not cheap though!
Taxis are also readily available, but the bus is the way to go.
We never had a problem using the bus or feeling safe, and it is so much cheaper than a taxi.
Our room was upgraded to one with a huge bed, awesome bathroom and BEAUTIFUL oceanfront balcony.
We also had two double beds instead of one large bed which we noticed the other rooms had, which was also dissapointing.
Although we had requested a King Size bed in a non-smoking room, we were given a room with two double beds in a smoking room.
Booked and confirmed 3 king bed rooms and when we arrived, we were told they were not available unless we paid an extra $15 per day, per room.
We were put into the rooms which still had windows, which we had to share with other people, although the hotel had no electricity or running water at least we had a dry bed to sleep in.
The same dishes were served every day at every meal and breakfast leftovers (like french toast) would show up at lunch AND dinner as "English Sandwiches" (basically ham and white cheese with french toast for the bread) in every restaurant.
There are 4 restaurants in this hotel snack bar was a bit repatative but it was only a snack bar, main restaurant and Mexican restaurant were lovelly.
My favorites were breakfast in the main restaurant, excellent selection and great omelets, and the snack bar where fresh guacamole was available every day.
The main buffet restaurant is where you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner anytime it's open.
One thing to keep in mind is that you have to put on shoes and shirt to eat at the snack bar and you have to have completely dry clothing to eat the lunch buffet restaurant.
Superior service always with a smile and a thank you from wait staff, bar tenders and front desk and concierge.
While we will not know who was responsible for the mistake--be it our travel agent, TransGlobal, or TuCancun, our biggest issue was the extremely poor service given by the front desk hospitality staff.
Entertainment: Every night the activites staff led a group of people to a different bar or club with VIP waiter drink service.
All the bars were conveniently located, one next to every pool & one in the lobby.
The tower we stayed in when you get out of the elevator the lobby is HOT!
The drinks are also pretty weak around the pool and in the lobby bars.
A great feature is the free wireless internet.
The hotel was spotless, the cleaning crew did an excellent job keeping the rooms clean.
They did keep the place very clean and the rooms were always spotless.
The rooms are very clean and the breakfast buffets have an assortment of fresh fruits.
Our room was very clean and the fridge was restocked daily.
The food was generally three star and my room was clean and confortable.
