Baltic Hotel Vana Wiru

The location of the hotel is really great as it is situated in the Old Town.

Hotel is in an excellent location in the old town.

To conclude it's quite a basic hotel in a great location - Tallinn is a beautiful city and it's a perfect base for exploriing.

Taxi to this hotel from the airport was just 150EEK to 200EEK.

The 'advertised' price for a taxi from the airport into town is about 100 EEK (about £5 GBP).

When we went up to bed around midnight, the room was extremely hot so we opened the window.

The rooms are of medium size with a shower (no bath), and twin beds (even if you ask for double).

When we came back (around midnight), we noticed that the bed area in our room smelled a lot like tobacco.

00am & also serves food, probably a better selection than the restaurant, prices are excellant for an hotel bar.

The buffet breakfasts in the restaurant are superb with a choice of porridge, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, sausages, fried potatoes, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, fruit juices, toast, jams and tea and coffee.

The staff were really helpful, breakfast was good but the attached bar was a tad souless.

Beer at the bar was cheaper than all the restaurants we visited with the cheapest at less than £1.

As soon as you step out of the hotel you are in the hustle of the centre, loads of bars and eating places just minutes away, a very popular Irish bar opposite the hotel, shops and take-aways just yards away(and a couple of stripclubs).

Terrific Hotel with exceptionally helpful reception staff.

Rooms very clean and reception staff exceptionally friendly.

The reception staff spoke excellent English and were helpful on advising on the attractions and ordering a taxi for us back to the airport.

The front desk staff were multilingual and helped us with a wide range of questions (how to get to Helsinki by ferry, what's the best Italian and Chinese restaurants, etc).

The hotel interior lacked any charm which was disappointing, but there was a functioning lift (elevator) and parking available.

We tried to book a sauna but were told they were not allowed to be used at the time because they didn't have a cleaner.

The rooms are large, basically furnished, but very comfortable, well maintained and spotlessly clean.
