Good situation, nice views, good food.

Better to include VAT in rate quotations.

The hotel is being refurbished but we were unlucky to have one of the rooms that has not yet been done. The room was very dated and the furniture could only be desribed as shabby. In the twin bedded configuration we could hardly open the wardrobe door. At present the facilities offered by the hotel could not be considered as 4 star. Perhaps when the hotel is fully refurbished all these problems will be resolved. At check in the booking was under the name of the guest who was with me rather than the person who had made the booking. It was worrying when we were initially told that we did not have a booking and had to wait until this was resolved. There was also a problem with the room which was made up as a double although the booking clearly showed a twin bedded room.

Excellent leisure facilities with outside pool and a lovely terrace overlooking the cricket pitch, watching a game whilst sipping pimms in beautiful English country side. Life dosen't get better than that.

We sat in the lounge waiting for afternoon tea / coffee, it was busy and the waiting staff we skurrying around, however, there was a senior member of staff nearby who could see we were waiting, but ignored us and carried on chatting to another couple - from the conversation they wer locals. Not the most impressive customer service and not what we experienced on a previous visit, quite disappointing.

The staff were excellent and very helpful. The outside pool was amazing with the birds singing and the fresh air and of course the lovely sunny days helped!

Our hotel room needs upgrading. The bedroom wardrobe was ancient and very dark in colour. New wardrobe, bedside table and desk in a lighter colour - oak would be good and also the headboards and curtains need changing. Apart from this, we enjoyed our stay but would not recommend the rooms to anyone.

From the time we arrived for a short three day break, the staff were friendly and attentive, the hotels location on the edge of the forest was excellent and although our room was quite small it was well furnished and very clean, Luckily, the weather was kind to us, so we could make use of both indoor and outdoor pools. Overall, very happy, looking forward to going back.

The hotel looked lovely, the lobby was fabulous as we entered and the facilites were great. The staff are very attentive and do thier best to please. Lots of countryside and walks around (great for cyclists) and the hotel bar has a lovely enclosed area with a garden which is great for young children.

The room ws a little disappointing and not great value for money. It was very basic and fairly small with a small double bed. Bathroom was quite dated as was the telly which was difficult to work and some channels were inaccessible, Heated towel rail was impossible to turn off which led to extra heat on an already uncomfortably warm night! Very pricey drinks!

The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The reception was excellent and very friendly. The breakfast was very good.

The food was very poor in the dining room and the service was awful in the evening. The hotel needs to sort out the quality of food which doesnt match what they advertise. The hotel was shabby in the main rooms.

We had dinner b & b, our reservation was upgraded to one of the recently refurbished rooms. Everything worked well, tea making facs in room all new. Top end of 4 star for out of town hotel. Food , both dinner and b'fast was fine

      Nice surrouding. Breakfast was good.

Room was very noisy - could hear people speak in the room above. Hotel has a long history but I didn't feel it lives up to its former glory.

There were building works on the floor immediatley below our room, therefore we could not have a nap in the afternoon and were woken early too.

Whilst the service was fantastic & all the staff were super friendly - i think the rooms needed some updating. I've stayed in better equipped hostels travelling Europe! I guess i felt like i had stepped back in time to the early 70's. We didn't use the pool/spa facilities so i can't comment on these i;m sorry. Was it value for money? i think if the room had been updated then yes as everything seemed to fall into place. If I had paid perhaps 40% less then i would have been a 10 out of 10 review!
