  Yes, you need to watch where you walk because of chipping concrete and the elevators don't always work, but we are in Mexico and on Mexican Time, so lower your blood pressure and take things as they come. The balcony views are spectacular, the ocean relaxing, and the staff so helpful. The 2 bedroom units are huge with plenty of closets, the stove works to boil the fresh shrimp, and the refrigerator cools the shrimp, fruit, and adult beverages, the coffee pot brews, and the microwave nukes -- what more could you want?

  I work as a hydro-engineer and I know that is NOT good water!

  Horrible people, water that was brown and very dirty! The people at the front desk only wanted more money from us and told us that the elevator would be broken for another week. We had to climb 9 flights of stairs to get to our 60's style room. When we first walked into our room we saw a cockroach run from the light. The manager assured me that it would be fumegated and boy oh boy was it. He put a bug bomb in our room and then it made all our clothes and everything smell and burn when we put it on. They insisted that it wasn't a problem and that they do this in everyone's rooms!

• The beds we're like huge taco's, you just ended up with matress on each side of you. Not to also mention that the water was brown and you never really felt like you got clean.

  The hotel looks as though it is straight out of the 60's and 70's all the way down to the bedding. The stove and sink in our room didn't work at all and the cupboards with all of the dishes in them were dirty.

  The room was large, with an ill equipped kitchenette.

  There appeared to be a water purifier but it was not working. There was no dish soap or kitchen towels; however there was a notice that were were not supposed to use the bathroom towels or facecloths for dishes. Housekeeping did not always leave the appropriate towel and/or facecloth supplies, nor did they change bed sheets regularly. The tub was old, chipped and rusted and there was a water leak behind the wall in the bathroom. The beds were extremely uncomfortable - hard as cement and there was not even a decent pillow.

  He could not find my reservation and. In the morning they changed my room. I went into my room only to find a man on my balcony!

  Balboa Towers has impressively huge rooms, all facing the ocean.

  The suite and the balcony take up one half of the entire floor. The 1 bedroom suite we occupied was lacking maintenance. The curtains were off their hooks, the bathtub had been painted and was peeling. It did not drain, so we stood ankle-deep in our shower water. The elevators were very pokey and I wonder when they were last inspected.

  The staff there was very niice and they did hellp us out but they where spose to give us free water and did not till the last 2 days we where there.

  That back bedroom gets a tremendous amount of noise! The water to flush the toilet was brown all the time. The furniture coverings & bedspreads are threadbare. The elevator worked 40% of the time and we were on the 15th floor.

  It was so noisy that my daughter had to move the mattress from her room into ours because her bedroom faced the street. The countertops in the kitchen are terribly stained, the faucets have a build-up of crust around them, the tile in the bathrooms is black in 70% of the grout. There is an awful sewer smell that comes up in the bathroom vents. It took forever to get hot water & sometimes it came out brown.

  The restaurant has wonderful food, the staff is very helpful and extremely friendly, and best of all, the pool area is quiet and not overrun by a large number of people. Did I mention that EVERY ROOM in the tower overlooks the ocean? The sunsets are incredible and the Balboa Towers is close to the best restaurants and shopping around.

  It sounds stupid, but my normal 10 minute showers often lasted 30 minutes, due to the tinted windows in the shower allowing a beutiful view of the area and allowing me to sit in hot water while watching the crazy traffic below.
