Bairro Alto Hotel Lisbon - 里斯本

The location is centrally located so every notable neighborhood is within walking distance.

The location is perfect because it is located in Bairro Alto (the place where everyone goes out to eat) and Chiado (where everyone shops).

The location was supreb with a number of restaurents nearby.

We had a transfer from the airport arranged by the hotel (again included in the package we chose) which was a touch of luxury being picked up by private BMW, but it is only a 20 minute journey by taxi.

Yet it is far enough away from the bars so that noise was never a problem; subway and tram stops are right out the door.

The room was their basic one (far from being basic )had a very large bed ,though the bathroom (lots of marble and v good shower over bath)) could have been bigger (struggled with 2 in there ).

It had a seperate entrance room (with its own climate control), three balcony's,clawfoot bathtub, shower with mirrored wall, HUGE KING Bed, Desks(yes plural), two huge plasma tv's.

The attention to detail is evident in many respects (the bath amenities, dining room cutlery, sumptous bed linens, the downstairs bar where we watched a world cup match very enjoyably).

The room was impeccable, tastefully decorated, with a double-height ceiling, fold out bed for my daughter, plasma screen, great shower and Egyptian cotton.

The room was spacious with a king bed and colours evoking the countryside of portugal!

The food was excellent, a light buffet breakfast in the mornings included in the price, and we actually ate in the Flores restaurant downstairs one night, which apparently is headed by the Portugese Chef of 2005.

We ate in the hotel on the first night as it was included in our package and it was delicious (although the restaurant does lack a little atmosphere) The bar is modern so may not suit older couples looking for a relaxing pre/post dinner drink.

Wait staff were also very nice and attentive (we had breakfast--included--in the restaurant each morning).

Breakfast at the very smart restaurant Flores was a delicious, though not huge, continental spread including plenty of exotic fresh fruit and freshly squeezed o.

Last, we also had dinner in the restaurant, Flores, and though it one of the best meals we had in Portugal during a week long trip.

Warm, friendly service, from the doormen to the reception staff.

The services available in the hotel - the restaurant, helpful staff and our room was great.

A speedy checkin and warm welcome from the front desk staff and we were in our room on the fourth floor overlooking the square - even had a balcony so we could step out onto to savour the rooftops of the city.

Apparently it also has a health centre/mini spa, but we didn't use these so can't comment.

Colors, materials, textures (gold elevators that aren't a bit ostentatious) and creativity all works very well; very tastefully.

Places to see whilst in Lisbon must include: Belem, The Castle, all the view points and squares (as highlghted on the city map) for photos, the Santa Justa lift and an interesting Church 'Sao Roque' plain on the outside but beautiful inside.

Had wireless internet access which was a must - 20 euro for 24 hr, 5 euro for 1 hr.

Breakfast is included in all rooms and is a small buffet comprising of fresh juices ,selection of ham/cheeses , freshly cut fruit , pastries ,toast cooked for you ,scrambled eggs and bacon & cerals /youghurts,tea/coffee.
