The hotel is located in the Barra (say "Baha") section of Salvador, which makes it a great centralized location to visit the historical sites as well as the area's the best beaches wich are in opposite directions.
This hotel has a good location in Salvador de Bahia, you have Ondina beach close to the hotel, you see it from the swimming pool and is not far from the city center (Pelourinho) by taxi.
It has a good location on a rocky beach, but good beaches are to the north of it.
It is slightly outside of the centre of Salvador, but is fine for buses (directly outside there is a bus to Pelorhino) and there were always taxis available.
Although taxis are readily available we ran into a couple of drivers who took advantage of us, and you can really save alot of money by taking the many buses that stop in front of the hotel.
The only thing that could be improved is the furniture of the room that is a little old-fashiened and that our room didn't have hairdryer in the bathroom.
Stuff friendly, the room was really good.
We had an ocean-view room on the 9th floor whose French doors led to a small balcony with the most breathtaking view we have ever had in any hotel.
We had a rich and varied breakfast-included in the room rate-- each morning at the hotel buffet.
When we checked into the hotel, which we found was very shabby, we were given a key (didn't work as often happens) to a room where the door to the balcony didn't shut, so the wind off the ocean was whistling.
Breakfast was wonderful and I had several great meals in the hotel's restaurants.
Everyhting from fresh fruits and juices to scrambled eggs (there is also an omelette station), meats, pastries, breakfast casseroles, potatoes, even dessert is represented here.
The susi buffet on friday night of the japanese restaurant is very good.
The pool bar serves snacks and the fish was memorable.
The hotel breakfast was a holiday highlight, so allow plenty of time.
Service was commendable from the reception desk (most of the staff speak great English), to the waitstaff , to housekeeping (pack an iron if you do not want to pay to have clothing pressed, albeit at very reasonable prices).
Excellent value for money and the staff is great.
The hotel is very clean and the service is very good.
We relied on mostly those; the hotel staff will be able to tell you which ones to take to your destination.
Take the elevator to the lower lecel of the city.

I was shocked that the steps leading to the beach from the pool area were locked by a gate since the hotel discourages its guests from going to the beach which is dangerous.
The hotel is clean, the staff is very kind and the size of the room as well s its cleanliness.
The rooms are 70's in style, but very clean with fantastic views from all rooms.
