Hotel Avenida Palace Lisbon - 里斯本

Knowledgeable about their city, within easy walking distance of many cafes and the hotel is situated in an ideal location in the downtown area.

Great location in the middle of the city and within walking distance of Castello san Jorge, the Bairro Alta, Rossio and Chaido and right next to the station to Sintra.

We thought overall the hotel was lovely, in the best location and we were delighted with our choice.

The hotel is very well situated for sighseeing and transport, bus and metro and the bus from the airport stops just a few yards from the door so no need for an expensive taxi.

If you don't use one of the good value taxis from the airport, the hotel is only one hundred yards from the main drop off points of the shuttle bus.

At the far end was a canopied double bed; then a sitting room with a couch, desk, small table and chairs; next the entrance foyer, and, finally, a marble-sheathed bathroom.

It seems the air conditioners were mounted just outside the bedroom and they vibrated the bed ever so slightly.

We were pleased with our room - twin bedroom, sitting room and bathroom plus shower room.

We booked a junior suite which meant there wa s aseparate room, but the rooms were really quite small and the furnishings and state of the room was a little aged.

The room we booked was a suite and it was very large and grand, although i found the furniture a bit too 19th centuary.

Rooms are quiet, servizio bar e light lunch molto buoni and the buffet breakfast is large.

Very nice rooms, lovely bar and breakfast was very good.

The bar is non-smoking (as most places in Portugal) but one is allowed to have a smoke in the sensationally opulent lounge on the ground floor.

The only meal they serve is breakfast which is excellent.

Breakfast was a good buffet style with an excellent range of food but none to order off a menu.

The reception employees (concierge and front desk) were charming and understated (not overly friendly, but efficient.

Charming interior, attentive staff and helpful concierge.

My only gripe was that we weren't treated very well for a 5 star hotel, the reception staff seemed aloff (maybe because they didn't have any other mid 20's couple there!

However, some of the staff in this hotel are badly in need of some customer service training.

Without detailing the specific incidents I found two of the staff bad mannered and completely resentful of having to provide service to a guest and some of the others were a bit abrupt and unfriendly.

Lisbon Do's: try the hop-on-hop-off bus which goes to all the key sights, try the custard tarts in Belem and go up the Santa Justa street elevator for the experience & the great views from top.

Housekeeping said it was a sewer backage.

Also the gorgeous interior, attentive staff and rooms were very clean and spacious.

5* facilities, clean rooms and charming staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
