Armada Istanbul Old City Hotel shouts comfort, with fresh flowers and a pond of tortoises to greet its visitors. Rooms are well appointed. The better rooms come with a view of the sea. Even though the location is not ideal, it would take ten minutes to walk to Sultanahmet. The hotel’s best asset is the Teras Restaurant which has a great view and is pleasant. Check before you book because room rates vary a great deal.

Overview

Located in the center of Old Istanbul, the Armada Hotel is the best starting point to discover the city sights, such as the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the sea.

The venue is set in a 16th century building, being a residence of the Turkish Admiral Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha, reconstructed in 1994 and refurbished in 2009. The Armada Hotel also offers four restaurants, guest lounge, terrace and fully-equipped meeting facilities.

The property consists of 108 rooms, 40 of which are renovated as "Superior" and eight are "De-Luxe" rooms, as well as 30 non-smoking rooms, and two rooms fully equipped for wheelchair access. All guestrooms offer all modern amenities, perfect for business and leisure travelers, like climate control, direct-dial telephone service, free wireless Internet connection and private safe-deposit box.

Restaurants serve its guests with healthy fresh dishes and traditional Istanbul cuisine in a stunning setting. The Terrace is a unique restaurant and bar where you can enjoy a fine meal, relax with a drink or just come to sit and admire the view.

The guestrooms, designed in the Ottoman style with the traditional decoratively-painted wood paneling, offer mini-bar, LCD television, kettle, goose-down pillows and comforters, ensuring a comfortable sleep, the private bathroom with a generous bathtub in the standard rooms, and marble tiled bathrooms with rain shower systems in superior ones. Hairdryer, natural olive oil soaps, pure cotton bathrobes and specially-woven cotton towels from Bursa are the other standard amenities in each room.

The Terrace (summer only) can host 250 people for dinner and 300 for cocktail arrangements. The atrium Armada SERA restaurant turned into a “Winter Garden”, where the guests are hosted during the winter period. The Ahirkapi Restaurant hosts many local cultural events with its turn-of-the-century Istanbul decor and cuisine. The Guest Lounge has Art Nouveau armchairs, couches, old-time radios, accessories and light fixtures, a piano and the Istanbul library with newspaper and magazine racks.

The location was absolutely fabulous, the hotel was a breathtake away from Hagia Sofia and i was very happy about the most affable reception staff.
The fantastic view and ste Sophie as well as Marmara Sea.
The room was also very comfortable, the breakfast buffet was excellent.

Getting there

The Ataturk Airport is located 18km from the property and the easiest way to the hotel from the airport is to take a taxi via the coastal road. The Sirkeci Railway Station is only 3km from the venue and such trip by taxi, depending upon traffic jam, will cost approximately 33-38 Turkish Liras or 17-19 Euros.

Getting around

You can easily reach any part of Istanbul using the Cankurtaran Railway Station, which is about 150m from the venue, the Sirkeci Station in 3km from the hotel or you can take a boat tour in the Seaport which is 3km away. Also the hotel comes with parking garage.
