  To start with my kids were two and nine at the time so I booked adjoining rooms for the kids, both rooms were clean, basic and sparcely furnished, what I expect from any moroccan hotel (unless suite). They were constantly running up and down with our room service tea ( i forgot the kettle )We were on the 5th floor with the kids and it was lovely , yes there is noise from the Berber night or other events but they don't go on that late, my kids never had any sleep problems. Kids loved it and we thought the staff in this area were great laugh, one of them is a fluent Irish speaker and I am too so we had great craic. We have come to know a lot of the staff there and they are very nice, they guy with the shop outside , just bargain, bargain and bargain again. Not a 4* in the room but the hotel is, Watch The SUNWAY rep if you travelling from Ireland ( total slapper ) was ringing my room looking for one of my male friends that had come on holidays with me and my fella , this guy has a partner and we told the rep this it didn't stop here she was a bunny boiler at the pool every day trying to get her leg over so watch out if your single and male and Irish- she want to marry an Irish guy.

  The Argan is very security conscious and when I was there my nine year old went "missing" ( could have killed him myself with shock ), they pool guy isn't actually a pool guy at all , he's head of security and he ahd the hotel and it's grounds shut down in about 30 seconds and two minutes later finds my son "hiding" on me under a stack of sunbeds!

  Most reviews turned out to be fairly accurate; we had a lovely room, no complaints there; but other guests had to move because of faulty showers, door handles, poor sound-proofing. The pool area was perfect for a week of lazing around in the sun, well maintained with helpful staff and enthusiastic entertainment team. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. When we tipped the pool attendant our sun beds were laid out and waiting for us the next morning, when we didnt tip him our sunbeds were pointedly allocated to other guests, despite the fact that there were lots of spare beds. We tipped the cleaning staff, we received bath robes, we didnt tip the cleaning staff, the bathrobes disappeared!

  The spice and jewellery sellers were present at the entrance to the pool area but they kept a low profile and did not bother us. We quickly came to understand however that their friendliness and helpfulness was directly related to the extent to which we lined their palms with dirhams! If you feel you would be bothered by the constant low grade hassle by virtually all sellers of goods and services in Agadir, dont go.

  We had no problem getting a taxi to and from the airport – I would certainly advise people to abandon the travel agency for two reasons: 1) Cheaper 2) You can choose your own flights so you can spend more time in Morocco! I was given a family room which was the same as an ordinary double room with the exception of an extra door between me and the next room (which could be locked on both sides). Also on my first night I realised that my balcony door didn’t close, however, reception immediately sent up a repairman, who worked on the door for an hour (up to 12:30am), after which it still didn’t work! The room was somewhat “well used” and in desperate need of updating and repair, but it was clean and the chambermaids were attentive and pleasant! The main lobby had lovely Moroccan decor and the staff in reception were a delight. Unfortunately Hotel Argana did allow various people to sell items in the hotel and by the pool. Otherwise, it is a short walk to the beach and the shops, or if you just want to hang by the pool for the day.

  I had checked this website in advance of our holiday and learnt that there is a noise problem with the Argana Hotel, so I pre-packed ear-plugs and upon checking into the hotel, I requested that my room be higher up than the 1st floor and away from the main lobby and corridor area. All was well until I got into bed and realised that I could hear the couple behind the dividing door. It also had a Moroccan room and a gym (which was very well equipped, however I didn’t see a single person using it.

  Excellent service from reps - very helpful, good advice, very friendly and non pushy. Lovely clean hotel, nice sized room with good sized ensuite, balcony, fridge & satelitte tv. Good food, especially at breakfast -buffet style. Lovely clean swimming pool, towels provided for sunbeds on request.

  On arrival, the coach service was great, collected from airport and dropped to hotel, had a talk from tour rep en route. On a positive note, breakfast is lovely, there are two fresh food stations every morning, one serving omelettes, eggs, etc and another serving doughnuts or some other freshly cooked speciality. This is on top of the usual buffet breakfast which was lovely.

  The hotel lobby is impressive, full height ceiling (I think the hotel is 5 stories high) in the atrium, etc. The rooms however, were a different story. Our rooms were on the fourth floor and we could hear everything in the lobby as the sound travelled.

  We booked this holiday last minute off the Thomson Auction site and after placing the winning bid, I became a little concerned having never been to Morocco before, But no worries what a wonderful hotel, what lovely people the staff and the local residents are. We had a lovely week at the Argana even though we had a problem with our room on arrival, we had a ground floor room and it smelled of damp, we went to reception and they showed us two more rooms the first was on the same floor and smelled slightly damp still, the second was one the first floor and was lovely although a little shaded from the sun but with a double bed, one of the lovely guys on reception told us if we would move into this room for the one night he would find us a really nice room the day after, when some people where due to check out. He did find us a lovely room on the 4th floor with a sea view (although back to twin beds). The evening meals were mainly Morocco style and we both enjoyed them there was always a choice of meat and fish and plenty for the veggies. The area around the hotel was good for shopping we even found a shop selling whisky just around the corner although we did find it by accident as no-one told us it was there. We went on a few trips, some arranged by the rep and one we were told about by some fellow holiday makers, this was the best one and we recommend it to everyone the trip picks up at all the hotels and takes you to the Medina, about 20 mins on the small coach costs 60Dirham (about £4) when you arrive at the Medina you are allocated a guide that speaks your language, we got Achmed, he spoke very good english, he took us around the Medina showing us all the craftsmen and their apprentices making shoes, jewelry, clothes, mosaic work, paintings etc and gives you a talk on the history of Morocco, one not to be missed.

  We enjoyed our stay the hotel was good the staff were very nice. We stayed bed and breakfast and had no problem with the food supplied. They have installed some sort of metal detector device at the door and it has a high pitched beep every time someone comes in the door, it's like the ones at the airports. We had a massage which was good but a bit weird as the lights were off and just a light from the hallway into the room.

  The only problem was we got a room which looks down onto the Reception on the first floor and it was very noisy first thing in the morning. We were disappointed but it turned out to be very windy on the beach and not comfortable for sitting in anyway so we stayed by the pool.

  We stayed in the Hotel Argana which in an excellent location, near all the shops and restaurants and a 5 minute walk to the beach. The staff were extremely friendly and even spoke a bit of Irish. The huge choice of local restaurants and the great view from our balcony certainly made up for this and there was also a lovely spa and swimming pool.

  The only bad points was the bland hotel food and the slightly uncomfortable beds.

  There was a mis understanding when checking in and i didnt seem to have a bed! I had my own bedroom thankfully!
