A lot of british people stay at this hotel, and i dont blame them, good value for money, right near the beach and downtown (only 10 mins drive to center) and good hotel staff.
I will say that for value for money the hotel is GOOD, as it reached are needs.
This hotel is excellent for the money we pay.
Overall the hotel is great for the cheaper prices you pay.
As for the location, I don't see how you can grumble.
It's a great location, it is in the hotel zone on the main street, maybe two miles from the food which included Ameican and party area.
The location of the hotel is at the end or beginning (depending on which way you look at it) of the hotel zone on Kukulcan Blvd.
If you're feeling adventurous, try skipping the taxis and take the bus.
You can take a taxi; but, I recommend just walking across the street and catching the bus for 65 cents.
We had reserved a room with a king size bed, got confirmation from the hotel before arriving, yet upon our arrival we were given a room with two twin beds.
Wash basin and mirror was in the hall way between the shower/toilet room and the bedroom (not all in one as in most bathrooms bizarrely).
The rooms were so so, the beds were a little hard and you don't have much of a tv selection, but who goes on to Cancun to sit in a hotel room?
The hotel is really clean and the maids tidy your room and make the bed every day.
Room - exceptionally clean - even the bed-linen was changed daily.
When it rained during the day - which it did on several occasions - you had to go outside for food or drink as the restaurant inside the hotel only opened for breakfast and dinner and the bar in the hotel opened at 5 pm.
You could always eat something for breakfast and for lunch there was a snack bar selling burgers etc, or the resturant.
Ok so the food wasnt fantastic but the staff definitly made up for this, the bar and restaurant staff were so friendly and used to bring us cocktails by the pool and by the 3rd day the staff all knew what we liked to drink.
We never had any problems with the food, although very rarely did we eat dinner as we were filling up at lunch and from the snack bar (Burgers are great.
Breakfasts had an excellent choice - pastries, cereal, fruits, cooked breakfast, pancakes etc.
5 hour flight we could not fault the Aquamarina Beach for what we paid (around £800 each all in) The room was spacious and very clean - maid service everyday and all the staff were welcoming and pleasant.
The front desk staff spoke very good English (as did everyone) and was helpful, the maids and security were nice, and so on.
Strangley the reception staff spoke very little English that night.
The staff work for pittance & work so hard so tipping was a pleasure for the service you received!
Next day, after spending all day by the pool, went to return to my room through the lobby.
The music was also too loud by the pool, even when asked to turn it down it was never done.
The only problem we had was the music by the pool was quite loud - but they did turn it down when we asked them to.
Would like to thank Jose and Luis and all other staff or being so friendly, keeping our room so very clean (and tidy!
We found the hotel itself, the rooms, the pool and the restaurants to be spotlessly clean and tidy.
The rooms were spotlessley cleaned everyday, and the whole hotel was clean and tidy all the time!
Our room was absolutely spotless and the staff were great.
The rooms were clean, service was great, and the food was fine, I noticed many negative comments about the food here, but most of the "buffet style" resturants at the hotels serve about the same stuff.

The rooms were clean, no bed bug problems or anything of the sort.
As for the food that some reviews complained about, it wasn’t half bad. The only thing that bothered me was that when housekeeping came to change the sheets, apparently the sheets had an old stain and they were trying to blame it on us (they would charge you for the sheets if it is your fault) which was impossible as we hadn’t really slept at the hotel that night!
