Angleterre Hotel - 聖彼得堡

The location of the hotel is great as it is overlooking to the cathedral and walking distance to the most of the attractions.

I do have 2 positive things to say - the mosquito problem was not bad and the location of the hotel was fabulous.

Because of its location i am recommending this hotel to friends.

One word of warning - if you intend to take a trip to somewhere a little out of town - Tsarskoe Selo / Pushkin etc a 'taxi' booked through the hotel is rather expensive, as they tend to order high end chauffer style transport.

The concierge desk could do the standard tasks well --arrange tours, help with airport transport, recommend restaurants.

Only downer was the lack of a full double bed - our room had two singles put together.

Our room was exactly as promised, a suite overlooking St.

They are more than adequate as a base camp but unless you can go for a suite the rooms are a little small.

The rooms weren't as nice as they looked on the website, but they were fine, and the bathroom was very nice.

There was also a free business center with an internet-connected computer, printer, tv and phone included in the rate for our "club room.

The rooms are sterile and have a cold feel, and the amenities - restaurant, bar, etc, are also just sort of plain, bland and uninteresting.

The Hotel Italian Restaurant is convenient but we had much better food, more reasonably-priced meals elsewhere.

The breakfast is a little disapointing - plenty of it, but if you want a good full English get there early because the food does tend to get left to cool, but I'm being picky.

The hotel Italian restaurant was nice - but I would recommend finding a good traditional russian restaurant for dinner and leaving the pasta for lunch or Italy.

During our October stay we had nice perks (and cheaper room price) like free breakfast, free access to the office center/lounge on our floor with computer and printer, slippers, tea/coffee maker, and nightly turn down service.

The real treasure of this hotel, however, are the four women who staff the concierge desk.

Petersburg, it was an enormous relief to be in a clean cheerfully-decorated room, with a multi-lingual reception staff.

And most of the staff (especially the restaurant "hostesses") could use some customer service training---I know it's Russia and not Disney World, but there are some basic rules of civility that everyone should follow.

I figure the hotel "spa" is mostly symbolic --- it included a kiddie pool and two sauna rooms, which doesn't go very far in a large hotel with a lot of suana-happy patrons.

There is a currency exchange right in the lobby too.

Hotel also has a decent health club facility and nice sauna, and shares access to all facilities at Hotel Astoria.

The rooms have recently been remodeled, are immaculately clean and the extra space was nice for the length of time we were there.

Rooms are nice, clean but a little lacking in luxury - but in a city such as this I can't see why you'd be spending too much time in there.

The room was spacious and clean and my husband and I were both pleased.

The rooms are large and clean and quite pleasant.

Our room was very clean and bright and reasonably large with wonderful views over St Issac's church and square.
