Ambassador Hotel Vienna - 维也纳

We chose the Ambassador due to its perfect location directly situated at the famous shopping mile Kaerntner Strasse, as well as for its proximity to the (for visitors) most important underground lines U1/U4.

It was only a five minute taxi ride from Wien Mitte station at which the airport train arrives.

Also the staff recommended that I order a reserved taxi for my return to the airport (amazingly no more expensive than a regular taxi).

Even though the room was large, the TV was a 19 or 20 inch screen that was so far from the bed it was not possible to watch from the bed - there were 2 chairs in my room I had to pull in front of the tube.

The hotel bar was an attractive area and we ate at the hotel restaurant Morwald on Christmas Day - pricey but wonderful food and excellent service.

The restaurant at the hotel is open for lunch and dinner and also you can reach many of the most famous and/or most excellent typical Vienna style restaurants within walking distance.

The staff is excellent, no matter if at the reception, at the restaurant or at the nice bar in the evening.

These sit over a once grand foyer that has had the misfortune of very modern lifts being installed and parts of the ground floor being sold off for high street shops.

The air conditioning saved us in the summer, and the option to purchase wi-fi cards was helpful as well (though the site made it appear to be free).

I do not know if they do this for everyone but they gave me free access to the Business Center, which has a high speed computer, fax, and internet access.

My room was spotlessly clean, spacious and beautifully furnished - I loved the drapes and chandelier.

However, if you don’t care about the services I described as missing, then this is a wonderful, clean, well-located and comfortable hotel that can be a good buy – just bring your own toilet paper!
