Good food. Pleasantly out of the way - horses in a field outside our window.
Room curtains were too thin and didn't stop the glow of the streetlights. No wireless (I didn't ask, about it, but no networks were visible).

The staff are very helpful and couteous, with the atmosphere being very relaxed too. The brealkfast was superb and catered for all tastes. I would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone and have booked to stay there again next month.

The staff were very welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable. It was very warm, in fact we had to turn the radiator down as it was so warm, which makes a change. It was very central to the places that we wanted to visit during our stay and the breakfast was very nice. The location of Abbeyfield is great. It was very peaceful and the train did not bother us at all. We would definitely go back for another weekend break.

The food served during evenings is very good, so I recommend paying a visit even if not staying at the hotel. "Gourmet" may not really be an accurate term to use but it suits better than other terms. The Abbeyfield is a good, clean, basic hotel with a great menu. Please do try it.
The Abbeyfield is ok, actually. All rooms (including public areas could do with updating and refreshing but these are observations rather than serious issues. I detect (having stayed a number of times now) that jobs are being undertaken.

I must say that we were delighted with dinner! We ate curried lamb dinner and a lamb shoulder. We simply devoured the delicious repast! The lamb was tender and succulent. The adjoining pub is old and dark. While we ate, we noticed maybe a dozen doctors dressed in their suits at a large table holding a conference that evening. The place was quiet and we slept well.
The bedrooms needed aired out, as they smelled a bit musty.

For the same price, it had more facilities than a B&B and the bar was nice and the rooms clean. The location was nice, too.
