Room service super slow and horrible. Hotel staff not helpful at all. Tried to charge extra during check-in. Will never stay in this hotel again (rather stay in a cheap motel)

Booked a suite for my best friends wedding night and asked staff to place some items(champagne, flowers and rose pedals) in the room for their special night. STaff assured me it would be done and it was not. They also double charged my credit card for the room and did not honor their free breakfast for booking the suite. Will never book this hotel again.

Stayed here on business. The hotel is brand new (it doesnt appear live.com's aerial photo). The view is nice and unlike the other review found the road noise to be minimal. The restaurant was good, but with hotel prices. The pool was unheated and the pool area not very charming. Room service food was very good and the same price. The water from the tap is drinkable (if over chlorinated) -- I am a gringo and had no ill effects -- so no need to drink the bottle water. However, this is the only hotel I know which charges for the use of the in-room coffee packets. In general, you get the feeling that they are nickel and dime-ing you given their not cheap rates.
There are no restaurants within walking distance and you should not stay here if you are a tourist: it is extremely safe, but boring here. (The closest simple place is a 1/2 hour walk along the periferico called el charco de las ranas. Not cheap but good.)
Tip: there is a safe taxi stand (with much cheaper rates) behind the hospital. To get there, go out the side door, then walking to your right around the parking garage and one block along the driveway to the stand, which abuts camino santa teresa.

I travel to Mexico City once a year (always in September) to visit friends in the southern party of the city. I have stayed at the Royal Pedregal and the Radisson Paraiso on past occasions. The Royal was just OK, but the Radisson left a lot to be desired. When the Camino Real, Mexican hotel chain, opened last year I was glad to see another option for this year's visit.
I booked the reservation on the Camino Real website and got the "Summer Promotional" rate.
The hotel itself is by far the best of the three hotels I have now stayed at in the southern part of the city. The public areas are immaculate, as well as the rooms. The shower was one of the nicest showers I have ever used in a hotel. I would take a shower just simply because of it.
By the time we checked in (11pm) the only room options available were a King Room-Smoking or Double Room Non Smoking. This being Mexico, and Mexicans love to smoke, I was not taking a chance with the smoking room. It was a bit of disappointment, considering I had requested a non-smoking king room.
I have read about noise complaints coming from the Periferico outside but we had no trouble with noise.
We ate in the restaurant (Bice Bistro) every morning and, although good, I had some issues with it. The service was excellent but the prices were very high compared to the other two hotels I have stayed at in the area, and have some hidden charges. First, the minute you sit down at your table you will be charged a MXN 20 cover charge. When the waitstaff come around with a basket of Danish ,these are not on the house, they are MXN 12 each (of course they don't tell you this). Having been to Mexico City on prior occasions, and other destinations within Mexico 3 times this year these charges, although small, came as a bit of a surprise. You come away feeling a little ripped off (Why not just add an extra 20 pesos to the entree charge??) Coffee was in the MXN 30-40 range. Compared to the other two hotels dining here is more expensive, but you can get away with a breakfast for two for about MXN 350. The food itself, however, was very good and the service very attentive.
The other comment from the Buenos Aires user who complained about the water charge is true. If you drink the water found in the bathroom you will be charged MXN 40 (plus gratuity). If you drink the Evian water in the minibar you'll be charged MXN 50 a bottle. Again, the other two hotels in the area, from what I recall, do not charge for bottled water. And, if you drink it you can't help but feeling a little ripped off. I almost felt that the hotel lures you in with cheap room rates and then gets you in the end with it's hidden charges. Let's face it, the water in Mexico City is not drinkable. Even my friends, who have lived there all their lives, never drink the water.
We also used the pool once, it was indoor, quiet and a nice place to relax for a half hour or so, but you wouldn't spend all day here.
Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would have stayed again. However, this was soured when we checked out and looked at our bill. The first night's room charge was as agreed on our confirmation, but the second, third and fourth nights' charges were about 200MXN higher than on my confirmation. When I checked in the receptionist confirmed our agreed rate, but somehow magically it increased after I checked in. I inquired with the attendant at the desk when I checked out, and granted this was at 4am, but he shrugged, pretended to speak no English, yet he spoke perfect English some 4 hours prior, and I reluctantly signed the credit card receipt. After leaving I contacted the hotel by fax and e-mail with my complaint and received no response. Now my credit card company is handling the dispute with the hotel. Again, I walked away feeling nickel and dimed by this hotel and, probably, will not stay here again.
