Depressing architecture

Stayed there one night. First room they gave me had an inoperative air conditioner, which the management said was operable "You just need to give it time to work." Nope, it was broken. I finally had to insist strongly that they give me a new room. Even the new room had a broken electronic lock that they had to send maintenance up to reprogram.
Architecture is ultra modern, stark and sterile in the extreme, steel, glass, no color, pictures, flowers . . . . inhuman really. Actually depressing. Like it was designed by a robot. This hotel's architecture is the antithesis of the Spanish character of enjoying life, color, style, and beauty
The hotel is a long walk to the subway and far from the old city.
Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel due to the depressing architecture and location.

We booked this hotel as part of a certain website's "Top Secret Hotels" deal, whereby we only found out which hotel it was after booking. However, we had already worked out it was the NH Constanza and kept our fingers crossed we were right!
Thankfully we were, and we had a fantastic two night stay in one of their superior rooms. The room itself was very large and beautifully decorated with wooden floors and stylish furniture. The bathroom had both a bath and shower.
The hotel itself is located near Diagonal (a large road in Barcelona), and particularly close to a shopping mall. The room overlooked some gardens and the mall in the distance and we had a very peaceful stay with little noise whatsoever. It's probably a 10 minute walk to the metro, 5 mins walk to Diagonal with lots of buses/taxis available and it was about ?10 in a taxi to La Rambla.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering advice where needed.
The hotel itself is excellent with a beautiful bar area and a lovely spa which was included in the price of our superior room.
Couldn't recommend this hotel more - it's not too far out to be a problem, but is in a peaceful area, great staff, great facilities, very clean and extremely stylish. And with our deal it turned out to be very competitively priced too.
