Gran sitio

This is a beautiful hotel in a fabulous location, the view from my room and the front door were both great. The rooms are large, comfortable, with all marble bathrooms. The lobby is spacious and attractive. A great internet and locutorio is right around the corner, along with many restaurants.

I would say the Palacio Castellanos was, overall, very good. The location is great and the common areas, rooms, housekeeping, and staff were all fine.
If you are driving be aware that there is no parking immediately outside the hotel, so you will have to park (probably illegally) close by and run in to get directions to their garage. This entailed driving up a one way street the wrong way and maneuvering through tight turns in an underground garage. Once there, we were told there was no one to help with the bags until 5 pm (it was 2:30 in the afternoon). I usually pack light and carry my own bag, but thought this would have been somewhat difficult for an elderly person or someone with even a minor disability given the ramps and such between our car and our room.
BTW, whatever you do, don't leave Salamanca without seeing the astronaut. Bon voyage.

Went to Salamanca in June 2003 and stayed at the Palacio Castellanos. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend it to anyone.
The hotel itself was very pleasant and nicely furnished. Rooms were clean and had nice bathroom's.
Food was good, and it was nice sitting outside the front of the hotel having an ice cold beer or two!
The location is also very convenient being within walking distance of all the main attractions.
Be aware that Salamanca is very very hot in the summer!!
As I said I would reccomend this hotel to ayone.

Best in Salamanca

Great hotel in the stunningly beautiful city of Salamanca. Rooms are nice (we got one with a breathtaking view of the cathedral), service is excellent, and location is very central ... exiting the hotel, all you have to do is turn left and walk about 2 blocks and you're in the heart of ancient Salamanca.
Make sure to ask if breakfast is included in your rate or not ... if not, they may hit you with a hefty 23 euros charge per person at check-out. We only paid about 100 euros per night here, which is a fantastic price-to-quality ratio.
Don't know why this city is not higher on the tourism totem pole ... it's got so many beautiful ancient buildings, it's like a mini, more navigeable version of Rome.
If you're North American, remember to adjust your eating schedule ... the sidewalk restaurants may have all their tables out, but they won't be serving any dinner before 8:30 or so at the very earliest (the Spaniards won't start arriving until about 10 or 11). If you absolutely must eat earlier, there is a McDonald's in the neighborhood, always full of starving gringos at 7pm.
