The hotel is in an unbelieveable location - overlooking the Pantheon.
Rooms are neatly decorated. Bathroom is a little small but overall woth the money.
Breakfast is served at the restaurant across the road - very average (coffee, small roll & a pastry)

I have given this rating for the Abruzzi in respect of its location. It must be one of the best in Rome. Central to all the obvious attactions, especially the Pantheon, which is the view from the bedrooms. No real complaints or concerns ... the hotel is no frills and in need of some upkeep. There is no bar/lounge or dining area. However, the rooms are clean and the breakfast adequate, provided in one of the cafes in the Piazza.
We found all the staff to be polite and helpful. Though the previous two contributions do alarm, we had no problems and we did leave quite a lot of our personal belongings in the left luggage area for a few hours on our day of departure.
This was the second successive year we have stayed at the Abruzzi and we would definitely stay again ... purely for its location. I think we may also consider the Hotel Sol Pantheon which is also in the same location, as it does appear nicer and at similar prices.
Wherever you stay, enjoy Rome, it is a fabulous City.

We were thrillled when we opened the shutters and saw the Pantheon almost close enough to touch. The room was spacious enough, clean, and the location of the hotel great for everything in Rome (walking distance). There was a stocked refrigerator, and breakfast was at a restaurant in the same piazza - good caffe, and a sweet roll and regular roll. Not much, but enough to get you going. There was no computer for internet use available.

I stayed at the Abruzzi for 4 nights and paid EUR 170.00 per night. The single-room, though very small, was clean and nicely furnished with a large and comfortable bed. The shower was very small too, I could hardly raise my leg or bend my body to wash my feet. I was expecting to get a room with a view of the Pantheon for that rate, but in fact it turned out to be dark with a view of an air shaft. So be it, you can’t find a better location in Rome!
The reason for my rating is an incident on the last day. Already the evening before I wondered why I found the room door snapped shut although I was absolutely sure that I turned the key twice. It was not a second room service (I really did not expect that), because my bed was as untidy as I left it in the late afternoon. So 24 hours later I prepared my backpack (including an iPod, earphones, sun glasses and some other stuff) with the two zippers in the 12-o-clock position and turned the key two times again when I left the room. Returning at midnight I found the room door snapped shut again and the zippers in the 9-o-clock position. My iPod wasn’t in the backpack anymore! When I gave a detailed report on the theft at the reception, the clerk told me to check my room (on the 2nd floor) for other stolen things. A few minutes later the telephone rang and he said: “Signore, I have the solution to your problem!” Back at the reception, he received me with his raised hand holding a key. He went to the hotel safe, unlocked it and presented me an envelope with handwritten number of my room. I was very astonished finding my iPod inside! The clerk couldn’t imagine how this strange thing could happen…
For more than 20 years I visit this wonderful city staying at several -also lower rated- hotels, but nothing like this happened before. I’m deeply disappointed.

I have never posted a review of a hotel before, but I felt I must in order to warn other travellers. The first night we stayed there we dropped off our luggage and left our passport and newly exchanged currency in the night stand and headed out for dinner in the plaza. We have been warned to protect our money in Italy, but we didn't think we'd have to secretly hide our things in a so called "three star hotel" (plus the safe in the room was broken!... conveniently enough). When we came back $100 Euros were missing!! We checked the exchange rate receipt and sure enough... 2 $50 Euros had magically disappeared. When we brought the situation up to the front desk, he was very rude and stated that that could never happen their hotel!
I will not stay here again, the location is ideal, but the standards of the hotel are not worth what we paid ($225 Euro) per night.
