We stayed following a daily mail offer, this being my 3rd trip to Lille I know my way around but got lost trying to find the hotel! the entrance is on a back street and being on a girly holiday it was a bit grim walking into town from there after dark and cobbled street and heels don't mix!
There is a nice pizza restaurant at the end of the road though called Gino's, quite pokey but nice all the same!! Also round the corner a restaurant called l'orange was very good and our translation of the cocktail menu proved interesting!!
The room was very basic and a bit grotty, there was dead insects on the ceiling, the curtains didnt quite shut and the bed covers were old and scratchy. The picture on our wall was particuarly horrible and gave us the creeps (was two dark masks!)! The bathroom was odd shaped and you couldnt actually properly sit on the toilet due to a wall being 1/2 foot in front of it!
Service in reception and the bar was indifferent and barely got a smile from the staff. Breakfast on the first day was adequate with some hot foods but there wasnt much left at 9am, the next morning was a different ball game as upon entering the breakfast room we were promptly turned around and made to eat in a side room as there was a large american group in there and we were reduced to a bit of toast with jam and a cup of tea!!
Lille is great but I wouldnt stay at this hotel ever again - there are much better ones!!

Recently visited Hotel des Tours on our first visit to Lille. The hotel was pretty basic, small bedrooms not particularly well equipped. Bathrooms good. Breakfast not bad. However, the Reception staff were some of the most unhelpful we have come across. Any questions were answered in a barely polite manner and some were downright rude. For instance when asking about Eurostar and the Belgian train strike the answer was " I dont take the train so.... pouf" He did not offer to telephone the station for us, but told us to go there and find out!
The night receptionist, when asked at Reception for drinks made us walk into the bar which was about 6feet away to take the order and then left them in the bar, when we were sitting in the foyer, rather than bringing them to us.
The position of the hotel within the old town was great and within walking distance of all the historic sites, so I expect that is why it was full of English folk!

We havejust returned from a three night stay at this hotel. We had a very good time, firstly the hotel is ideally located, about ten minutes walk from Eurostar terminal and a similar distance from the centre of the old town. A minutes walk away is Rue de Gard which has an excellent range of family run restaurants. The hotel room wasn't large but adequate, the TV had a range of French channels and also BBC World. We didn't go to France to watch TV but catching the news was good. The breakfast was a help yourself buffet with a range of hot/cold options, and importantly tea ( something not always available in France).
We wanted somewhere that was a quiet base so we could explore the town, this hotel provided just that.

We travelled to Lille via Eurostar and booked this hotel as a recommendation by them for a romantic break. The location may be good being in the old town but the room was basic, cheaply decorated, the bathroom had a lino floor, stained sink, loose toilet fittings and a door that did not close properly. The front door let in light and noise from the corridor and lift. The bed was old though the matress was comfortable and the pillows had been washed so much that they were so lumpy as to be unuseable. The view overlooked commercial chimneys. We were expecting 3* quality and got a room that felt like it belonged to a hostel rather than a hotel and failed to get a relaxing nights sleep. All in all the feelings of romance were well and truely quashed by the room. We only experienced one room and may of been given the worst in place, however
Just right!
