We stayed 3 times at the Santa Cruz Hotel in Lima, and it was a very pleasant experience. Very friendly staff, the rooms are fine, nothing fancy. They have free internet at the hotel, not always available, however. On one occasion the internet did not work. But there are very cheap internet places nearby, and a staff member of the hotel especially came with me to show me the way there. I found this extremely friendly and personal service. Breakfast is average, quite OK in fact, nothing to complain about. The hotel is located in a safe area in Miraflores. There are a couple of restaurants in the area, walking time of 10 min. or so. You can save the money of the hotel's airport transfer (20 USD per car). You just take a taxi, like anywhere in the world. The price airport-hotel or vice versa may be somewhere between 20 and 30 Soles (negotiate fare before the ride!). But, at the airport: take only the official taxis that are lined up OUTSIDE the terminal!
