A total nightmare, after travelling for so many years this is definitely the worst dump ever. They have a disco running until 4 am and the rooms are deficient, noise filtering trough like if you where in the disco itself . The noise is unbearable and the reaction from the hotel staff was just unacceptable.
Going to the mountains to get some rest and coming back exhausted is not an option.
Take any other hotel in the region it can only be better than this one.
I would only recommend this DUMP to my worst enemy.

The room standard seems to depend on which part of the hotel you are in.
The main hotel building has very nice rooms (large, clean, some with excellent views etc). However the Annexe (across the road from the main building but linked by an underground corridor.) seems to be for the 'budget' end of the market. The rooms were clean, but smaller and more 'basic'.
Some of the furnishings in the hotel are slightly dated (mainly the dining room), however very warm and welcoming after a day's skiing, as were the staff.
The food was excellent and can arrange extras, eg birthday cakes etc.
Guests have free access to the swimming pool in the town which is a couple of minutes walk up the hill. The pool is cold in winter, but great for swimming, and the changing rooms have small steam rooms (they call these 'turkish baths').
On the minus side there is a small uphill walk to the ski hire shops and main gondola station, it's not far but can be tricky in ski boots (there is a boot room at the hotel with lockers). However, the hotel does have a free shuttle minibus that can drop you off.

We arrived with a reservation on a snowy cold Sunday after traveling over 24 hours from Boston only to be told that they did not have a room for us, nor would they for the entire week. But they had taken the liberty of booking us at an outlying hotel. Then they told us they would call the other hotel to come get us and we could wait outside. All this was done very rudely, and even after 5 years I still feel angry that we were treated this way. In thinking back, we got a much better place to stay at the other cleaner hotel, but since we had no car it was difficult getting back and forth to town where the skiing is.

This hotel is comparable to a Best Western. It was extremely clean and the food was very tasty. The furniture looks like it's from the 1980's... but the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The bedspread and blanket were ugly. Bring your own toilitries. Great location in the village. The post office was downhill, two buildings away, and also served as the city bus stop where you can ride for free. A few buildings uphill was a grocery store. There is no gift shop in this hotel! The Classic is small and defitinitely not five star but I would recommend it. The view is incredible from room #207 and has a balcony. There are also non-smoking rooms which is such a challenge to find in Europe! The windows are thick and my room was NEVER cold, even though it was freezing outside! CNN international is the only English station I could find of 13 channels. A small refrigerator in the room was a nice touch for drinks I purchased outside the hotel. The staff very nice and most understood English.
