Stayed in the hotel over a July weekend. The hotel was completely full. When we arrived at the room we discoved that the shower attachement was broken however this was quickly fixed. In the evening I requested bubble bath and an ice bucket. I received a phonecall a short while later to inform me that they could not locate housekeeping and could I come to reception to get these items myself. I declined and then about 30minutes later the ice bucket arrived. We then had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the Sunday night. The service whilst pleasant was extremely slow. We waited quite a while for our drinks and my husband ordered a pint of guinness and it was 20 minutes before it appeared. There were significant waits between our courses. We then asked to settle our drinks bill in cash. After waiting for our bill there then seemed to be an issue with giving change from a 50 euro note. On the second day we did not receive the complementary newspaper which was stated in the in-room literature. We went for breakfast at 9.30am as we had been advised that between 10am and 11am were the busiest periods. However, we still had to queue for a table for about 15 minutes. Then there were few staff around to get tea, coffee etc. Our room was not serviced until after 3pm. We were back in the room by then and my husband told them not to bother just to replace the towels. Later on I asked reception for some of the 'wheat body lotion' as I had used the one supplied in the room. I was told that the hotel did not provide this. 30 minutes later some was supplied to my room. We did not have a turn down service on our second night although we received it on our first. On our second night we were awoken at 6am by the banging of the pipes over our heads. This continued for about 10 minutes. Again we had the same fiasco at breakfast where we had to wait for a table. The problem seemed to be that tables were not being cleared quickly enough, however, some of the staff did not seem too worried about this and cleared the tables at a very slow pace. We were also not supplied with a newspaper for the second day in a row. The tiles in the toilet floor area of our room were cracked and could easily slice a persons toe open. The room was also extremely warm, and the radiators would not completely turn off no matter what I tried. The reception on the television was also dreadful, some channels were not available and some were unwatchable. Whilst these issues individually are not significant, collectively they became very annoying and are not what you would expect at a 5 star hotel. The staff are lovely and very friendly, so they cannot be faulted. It would seem management is at fault. I also sent an email to the manager to point out the issues, and one week later have still not received a reply or acknowledgement.

Stayed for two nights - interior of room beautifuland very clean, bathroom fantastic. Unfortunately it outside main hotel building and was overlooked by steps and courtyard paths so had to keep curtains closed when we were in the room! Housekeeping not good - room was not serviced on second day until we asked about it around 5pm, even then it was slapdash. Had to return meal from bar as it was not warm enough. Selection at breakfast was excellent ...... but hot food was not hot! Cold buffet breakfast very good though. Reception staff were excellent and service in restaurant was good. Food a bit overpriced though compared to comparable hotels in Ireland.

We stayed at the Lough Eske hotel for 1 night and what a great day we had. The drive way up to the hotel is breathtaking it seemed once we went through the gates up the driveway it was time to chill out and relax. The grounds are amazing. On arrival our bags were carried to reception while my husband parked the car by the time he came into the hotel I had already checked in it was one of the quickest checkins we've had. The rooms are huge, we stayed in the standard room but it was more than your normal standard room. I cannot fault one thing in the room other than you didn't want to leave it cause it was so cosy. We ventured down to the leisure complex for a swim and it is in a lovely setting also the pool is surrounded by glass and its nice just swimming along with the sun shinning in through. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. It was 5 star the donegal way and let me tell you its a comfortable relaxing way and just makes you switch off from the world. The many sitting rooms leading into sitting rooms is a great idea and its lovely sitting back having a glass of wine with no tv's around you... We cannot fault the food. We decided to eat in the bar and the food was quick and as good as you would get in any restaurant. The breakfast was lovely with a great choice. Overall we had a relaxing night away and we have already booked for another weekend this hotel is suited to anyone especially if you want a break away from it all to catch up with your partner, friends etc...

High Expectation - complete let down. Reservations failed to book anything correctly. Check In 3pm?? - Arrived at 3:45 - rooms still not ready. Booked 2 rooms 1 twin, 1 double got 2 doubles so no bed for our child. We got a disabled room with seat in shower and high toilet and no bath. We're not disabled. Roll-away bed for kid arrived later. Housekeeping did not refill tea or cotton buds. Shower did not work in spa. Spa deal including 30 Euros per room...? Spa fully booked up. Rooms nice (except our disabled bathroom facilities) Food OK.

Fantastic experience.. Excellent staff throughout.. Rooms amazing, queen size bed was amazing, bathroom gives impression of real luxury. Great selection of Breakfasts and were delivered with newspaper.. we were there for a friends wedding and had great time. Front section of castle has lovely rooms to read or chill out. This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in, everything was perfect for us.. will definately take the drive and come back again.
