Good location, nice views, poor room quality

The Marmara Pera is located in Beyoglu and has nice views to the old city and the sea. That's the good thing about it. We stayed for 3 nights and payed 180? per night without breakfast which was way too expensive for the quality of the rooms. The size and the ambience of the rooms are typical for a 3-star hotel with rate no more than 100 euros / night.

Nicely placed hotel, clean rooms, although a notch smaller than i expected. The hotel was built rather recently with a decent interior design.
Liked: location, service (they brought in a basket of fruits since it was my birthday - nice touch), cleanness of rooms, breakfast
Disliked: poor on amenities (no pool, spa, etc), rather pricey for what you get
Don't be confused with Marmara hotel, which is 10-15 minutes away. Marmara Pera is a new addition to the Marmara collection. Would I stay here again? Well, I've booked Hyatt Regency for my next trip that starts tomorrow, so... and the price is almost the same.
I will write a review about Hyatt after I return.

big disappointment
Guest name: kbtmom, northern virginia
Big disappoint after having spent several nights at the Dersaadet Hotel across the Golden Horn. My sister had a business meeting and I went along as her travelling companion. From the moment we walked into the lobby and were ignored, we wanted to pack up and leave. No one ever offered to help us with our luggage or were able to give us directions when we needed them. Toilet paper was missing from our room. Did have nice view of the northern city skyline but located in a very noisy neighborhood. Lots of traffic all night long. Glad I wasn't paying for it.
An excelent choice in Istambul

Beautiful views, nice decoration. Don?t miss the terrace!!! Nice place to read a book at sunset. Good chill-out music.
Located near good bars, restaurants and shops. Better to stay here than in historical quarter, specially to go out in the evenings. You can always take a taki or bus during the day to visit the historical buildings.
