I've wanted to stay here ever since I found Maastricht but the hotel was always booked. Got my chance in December for the Christmas market and wasn't disappointed.
Great location, cool elevator and the breakfast buffet was ample. The woman running the buffet was a darling, giving me a "to-go" bag of goodies when she found out it was my last day and I had a several hour train ride ahead of me.

Great location in the center of the city. Hotel has very interesting architecture, a mixture of art deco with a bit of Bauhaus. There are numerous restaurants and cafes less than a 100 yards from the hotel door and excellent shopping areas including a bookshop with a large selection of English language publications. The front desk service was excellent.

This hotel must have been rewarded its 4 stars some 20 years ago, and the interior hasn't been modernised since then. This is not to say that things are broken or not clean (although a light scent of machine oil or sulfur is clearly noticeable throughout the hotel), but just don't expect anything modern. That in itself could be a pro for those with a preference for oldfashioned hotels, but regrettably the hotel's interior is not really the type of vintage that many people will be interested in.
Its extremely central location is the main feature of this hotel, but it comes at a price: if your room is facing the square some noise nuisance from homegoing drunk youngsters is inevitable, and because of the poor condition of the windows (again: lack of maintencance) these do not provide adequate protection either.
For my stay I found an extremely competitive rate of 55 euros, which raises my level of tolerance quite a bit. But if I would get offered that same price again I'm not sure at all that I will chose this hotel (although during my strolls in the city centre I did not see any other hotels that I would fancy).
