I stayed 8 days at El Tukan Condotel and I spend a good time. The room was always clean and the food was excellent! It's a modest hotel but it was very comfortable and quiet . What I liked the most was the location, since the 5th Ave is the principal street for restaurants and stores and it's right close to the beach.
About the things that they have to improve:
1. A phone line in the room is necessary. It 's unappropriate to take private phone calls in the reception since everybody can hear your conversations and the reception of the phone is very bad; the phone calls kept cutting 3 times or more.
2. A fridge is necessary in the room.

We have just returned from one of my favorite places, Playa del Carmen..and we have been many times and we love it down there. I want to state that we did have a good time and we are not putting this hotel down, but we did have some issues.
To begin with this hotel is in a beautiful location, right on 5th Ave, and you walk into a very cute and accomidating entrance. The hotel court yard and pool are very cute. Although disappointment !1) Extremely small pool. We where escorted to our room, which comes to disappointment 2) Across a busy street, not in the extremely cute courtyard area !! We then get into our extremely clean room with a nice sized shower, and cute patio, but cheap seets and a hard bed !!
We then go to have a drink at what we though was their front bar, and we where told no, this was not part of the all-inclusive. We went to the other front bar/resteraunt. where we order wonderful shrimp quesadillas and drinks, and then to find out that this place was not included as well. GREAT !!!!
We find the all inclusive dinning hall, where number 3) your choice of alcoholic bevererages is limited. The food at the buffet was fine. Breakfast was ok, lunch was pretty good, the fish, mashed potatoes, and vegetables where very good !!! Dinner was alright was well.
The next morning we go to the beach area. Number 4) The beach area of their is over 6 blocks away from the resort !! Their "area" is BEYOND SMALL..with all the beach chairs packed together. They sever drinks in small plastic cups..icky !!!!
We then go to dinner two nights at two resteraunts, one is the place we had accidentaly eaten at before, but got charged for, very confusing !! The resteraunts are very nice, great services, we are giving a "Special" menu, which was very limited, but the food was very good !!
We stayed here for an excellent rate, and you do get what you are paying for ...If you want a fancy all inclusive place, this is not for you. If you want a cute place, great location, great service, and are fine with ok food and drinks and no pool...I would recomend it !!!

Where do I start?? The hotel and grunds were very nice, the rooms were always clean and the grounds, and pool were kept clean. As far as the all inclusive part -- now that was something else!! When you think all inclusive -- that ususally includes your meals -- three a day, drinks, snacks , beach club and entertainment. We got the three meals in the buffet accross the street, the ala carte you had to book at 7:00 a.m. to use. Who is up at 7:00 a.m. on holidays, not many poeple. We managaed in two weeks to eat at the a la cartes --3 times. the food was great. That was the only time you had entertainment. The beach club was at least a 10 minute walk and if you did not get there by 8:a.m. the you did not get a plapas. The bar was to be opened until 5:00 p.m.--that did not happen-- they always ran out of ice and booze. The bar at the hotel was closed by 11:00 p.m and if you wanted anything after that you went down 5th and bought a drink. They definately need to re-think the all inclusive part. We booked through Sun Wing and they were no help when we had a problem. i would not recommend Sunwing .
