i would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. Would you believe this? we were on our honeymoon and the double bed was nothing but 2 single beds put side by side!!!! when we complained about this, we were given another room when it became available... but guess what? this bed had 2 single mattresses and a wooden plate in between terribly uncomfortable. wardrobe space very limited. breakfast ok though nothing special. hotel staff know limited english and not helpful - when we asked about transport buses, trains, etc., the only thing they could do give us a photocopy of a map that could tell us where the train station is . they had no info on buses, times, etc. Don;t expect to find any brouchers about possible excursions! at least there was an indoor pool. nothing appealing about the hotel decoration. dont be fooled by learning its a "4 star", when i was in France, a hotel which was not even 3 star, had more attractive rooms. We only took this hotel because we had no option as we were travelling with a tour organised by a travel agent, something which i ll probably wont do again, as from this experience i learnt that they choose unpopular hotels so that they can make a good bargain.
i m not usually a pessimistic person but i dont want anyone to waste his holiday if it can be prevented.

I stayed in this hotel due to business trip. However the rooms could not be booked over company. So I booked over hotels.com. By chance I met a colleague, and asked him about the price. He was paying the company rate, and me 120 Euro, hence my first disappointment. Other disappointments are already written by others, just to add: a very poor breakfast buffet, dirty curtains (found one dead fly stuck). Very soft beds, which is very uncomfortable for me. The staff was friendly to me. There are better hotels in Nijmegen. I have tried Mercure, which is much better. This hotel is not worth this high price !

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights at the end of April 2007. The room was huge (a suite), even by American standards. Extremely strange lay out though with lots of dead space. The bathroom was clean, but had tired decor that must be at least 25 years old. Shower head was in a strange spot, but good water pressure (a rarity in most of Europe) and tons of hot water, just unavoidably drenched the bathroom floor. Overall experience was average. Breakfast was ok. About a 5-10 minute walk to the center of old town. Overall not bad, but not earth shattering.

The Belvoir is exactly how I would imagine a 1970s Intourist hotel in a medium-size Soviet city would be. From the staff that can be barely bothered to answer questions to a decor that has gone out of style at least twice to the chastely separated beds, it's all here.
That being said, there's nothing actually wrong with the hotel -- the rooms are clean, there's plenty of hot water, and there's even a so-so wifi signal. It's just at $150/night (Expedia special rate), I expect well-lit corridors, a friendly staff, and a slightly welcoming entrance way.

I stayed at the Hotel Belvoir for 4 days in August 2006. I think that it is possible to do rather better in Nijmegen.
The rooms are relatively large for Dutch standards, more like North American sizes, but that's about all that recommends the place. The staff were repeatedly rude and unfriendly to other guests. The phones were all not working, and the staff were anything but apologetic about this. The decor looks like it was probably in good shape 20+ years ago. The breakfast is ok, but unremarkable. The beds are uncomfortably soft.
The location is not bad, just a few minutes' walk from the town center, but other nearby hotels match that, and are reported to be better maintained and more friendly.
