Myself and my boyfriend stayed at the Uvala in July this year. We had read the great reviews on here before we went and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is fairly modern and unbelievably clean! The rooms are a decent size with a great en-suite. All the rooms seem to have a balcony and the views are amazing.
The pool area is great and despite being there in high season, we could always get a sun-lounger and there hardly ever was anyone in the pool.
Food: We arrived at midnight and the hotel had even left us over dinner! If you're staying there - go half-board! The food is good and there is a great selection. Every night we had 2 starters, a main and dessert! The staff are also extremely obliging and friendly.
One down-side however is that drink is extremely expensive - particularly wine so I would stick to the Croatian beer which is really nice.
Location: You really couldn't ask for much better. Getting into Dubrovnik is so handy as the bus stops right outside the hotel and is really regular. Another plus is that the buses run on to 3.30am during high season so you don't feel you're missing out on the old town.
There is also plenty to do in or around the vicinity of the hotel and there are plenty of restaurants and bars which are much cheaper than going into the old town.
If you're going to Dubrovnik - stay in Uvala!

Stayed for 7 nights at this lovely hotel and everything was first class. The rooms were modern and spacious, bathrooms recently refurbished in tasteful decor with powerful shower - everything spotlessly clean. Air con was very effective and quiet and rooms were sound-proofed so we slept well at night.
Breakfast wonderful and evening meals provided such a variety of dishes that we ate there every night and there was something to suit all tastes - the buffet was frequently replenished so you had the feeling everything was fresh.
Highlight was the superb staff employed at this hotel - every person we encountered was welcoming, friendly, helpful, professional without exception and this made our stay very special.
Location was good - quiet, relaxing area out of the hustle and bustle of the old town but still within easy reach by local bus which stops outside the hotel with a convenient frequent timetable.
Beautiful views of Lapad Bay from our front sea-facing room and lovely outside terrace for drinks after our dinner. We had entertainment a couple of nights in the form of local folklore singers and musicians which was very pleasant.
I would certainly recommend this hotel and hope to visit again.

I thought the Uvala was a good hotel - very efficient and with friendly staff. The rooms were spotless and comfortable with a fabulous power shower. I had a sea view room but on the 2nd floor. I asked to move to a higher floor so my view was not obstructed by the trees and the staff were very helpful in allowing me to move. Breakfast was great too - lots of choice with delicious fresh pastries.
The hotel is a wellness/spa centre - and it feels a bit clinical. If that's what you are after, then that's OK, but personally, I prefer something with a bit more character.
Location wise, the no 4 bus stops are just outside the hotel and the service is regular and reliable. It is only about 10-15 mins into the old town. Lapad itself is not very interesting - lots of resort hotels - but there is not a lot of choice of accommodation in the old town.
So, a good choice if you don't want to stay for long periods enjoying the atmosphere of the hotel, and you want to use it as a clean and pleasant base to explore Dubrovnik.

I was originally booked in hotel Vis opposite Uvala which was clased for refurbishment. it was with great surprised that I was sent across the road for a free upgrade ( Vis, Uvala, Adriatic ar hold by the sae company).
the staff is so helpful and pleasant. they do their best to make tyour stay unforgetable.
the view on the sea of Lapad is also a bonus.
breakfast is really good with plenty of choice and an amazing view on the sea.
there is a well being centre with free indoor pool /jacuzzi facilities. there is an outdoor pool by the restaurant/bar.
the bedroom are nice, spacious and modern with mini-bar.
Uvala is 45 minutes walk to the old town, but the bus 4 takes you there for 8 kunas in 10 minutes.
mind you, walking to town is very enjoyable as you discover all the little shops and another great view on the way to Pile.
I will recommend it early season because in july/august it gets mad and packed with intolerant tourists.

We ended up here by accident as Hotel Splendid where we were booked into originally was under repair and they shifted us to this hotel. So we paid only 65Euros for a double room with amazing sea views. Convenient location and well maintained.
